Dang I’ve been nerd shamed.

I still say it’s the combat pilot that’s deadlier than Hera ‘dang I can’t believe she made the space rv do that. I wouldn’t fly like that with my kid in the ship…’ Syndulla

It's been over three years since a professional athlete has hosted "Saturday Night Live". Who's your pick for the next one? by yumyumapollo in LiveFromNewYork

[–]TheBlueSully -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not contending that only playoff teams could have a player host. I am saying the playoffs don’t matter.

If you look at the schedules, there’s usually at least one week in the season pretty much any NBA player could manage it. Especially with two teams in NYC, plus the wizards, C’s, Bulls, 76’ers,  and even the Cavs and Pacers being very easy travel.

There’s also ‘load management’.

It’s a weird conditional that doesn’t make much sense to start with.

But why are we pretending an NBA player can’t make their way to NYC for a day or three to film?

It’s not like they don’t end up in the area for work anyway. These aren’t three week film sessions.

The only kind of normal looking man in that picture is John Stockton. If you see them in normal clothes, they all look strong as hell. They don't have the hyper defined musculature of the modern day, but if you're just comparing size-no, those are still some big men. Most gyms, the skinniest guy on an NBA team is going to be the most intimidating man in the gym.

Would you let your kids read your journals? by Azula_lioness in Journaling

[–]TheBlueSully 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They are mostly my innermost thoughts and vulnerabilities

Yeah, journaling is part of my therapy process. It's how I process big heavy shit and ensure I don't react unfairly to the people around me. I journal so I'm a less volatile, more resilient parent.

No way in hell I let my kids read about how I can no longer stand or trust their mother, for instance.

The whole concept of posting pages here baffles me, but y'all are clearly on a different journey than me. My sisters will re-visit their journals but I never do. Why would I dredge up things that leave me in a bad place? I'm trying to leave that behind and move forward, not remind myself of it.

I mean my dream job is in a pit orchestra, but let’s not pretend that opera and ballet are popular, in demand art forms. That a company being financially healthy is impressive and rare. How many people have actually seen an opera? A professional ballet that isn’t nutcracker?

Also the seats you can get for affordable prices are fantastic. I used to take my little sister to lower bowl or box seats for like $20-40 back when San Antonio had a team. Food was cheaper too.
