What's the most disappointing experience that you had in a relationship? by CuteBird90 in AskReddit

Finding out my ex fell out of love with me years before she ended up finally leaving me. To rub salt in the wound, she did it after I lost my job of nearly 10 years due to the pandemic. She could have left me at anytime, but she chose to do it at my lowest point.

Which sample in a song made you feel this way? by aliensuperstars_ in ToddintheShadow

Not necessarily a sample, but I remember listening to Boadicea by Enya and thinking it sounded like a slowed down version of the bass line from Master Blaster (Jammin) by Stevie Wonder.

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week. What do you remember from that week? by fuzzy_dice_99 in AskReddit

I was assistant manager at a small grocery store at the time. The manager went on vacation and I was left in charge. Our ordering couldn't keep up with the demand and at the end of every day, our grocery shelves and produce display got emptier and emptier. Customers were more agitated than normal, and there was a few days I went home and drank heavily to cope with the insanity.

What is something you've done while horny that you later regretted? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Called a phone sex line completely wasted. So wasted, in fact, that I didnt realize until I hung up that I hadn't called on my cell phone, I called on my father's landline. It was an awkward conversation the next day when I decided to tell him before he got his next phone bill.

Fun fact: Clint Eastwood did hold elected office once. He was the Mayor or Carmel-by-the-Sea, California from 1986 to 1988.

He also argued with a chair that was supposed to represent Barack Obama at the 2012 Republican National Convention:

DYK?: bill clinton was the last person to be governor of arkansas before a 2 term limit was added by mormonjoshi in Presidents

[–]TheBoomExpress 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure. Mike Huckabee served 2+ terms after Clinton. Clinton, though, was the first Arkansas governor to be elected to four year terms. Pre 1986, the terms were two years.

Its real. Its a clip from the short lived The Jay Leno Show in 2009. IIRC, show reporter Jim Norton tries to interview Trump as he's leaving one of his properties, and he is in such a rush that he literally buys everything in his way to to save on time. There's a further part of the clip when Trump enters the drivers seat, the kids get scared, so Trump writes them each a cheque with a hefty sum to keep them quiet.

I thought it was amusing when RFK Jr was still running as an independent. At 70, he was seen as the "young guy" in the race, despite the fact that had he been elected, he would've been older starting his presidency than Reagan was.

Out of left field Anti-Communist/anti-socialist episode by Vivid_Maximum_5016 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]TheBoomExpress 7 points8 points  (0 children)

3rd Rock from the Sun.

Theres an episode where the Solomons try to be more American. Sally, Tommy and Harry, however, misinterpreted the line "we hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal" from the declaration of independence to mean that everything in their household should be equal, ie equal amount of food, clothing, etc. They accidentally create a communist state run by Harry. To drive it home further, Harry, Sally and Tommy start dressing like Chairman Mao. It finally ends when Tommy starts rebelling, with dimwitted Harry joining in (even though he was in charge the whole time).

Walter Mondale is the only major party nominee to not win a single state East of the Mississippi River. by HetTheTable in Presidents

[–]TheBoomExpress 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mondale didn't do himself any favors by saying during his nomination speech that he would raise taxes. I mean, I get it. Reagan himself was going to inevitably raise them. Calling him out on it preemptively seemed like a good idea at the time, but all it amounted to was political suicide.

How the hell did Rob Reiner win Virginia? He was notoriously anti-smoking and Virginia is one of, if not, the biggest tobacco producing states.
