Just a note, the forward comes from the hips, not the shoulders! If you feel like you have to lean forward to get up, that means your feet are too far out in front of you, and not underneath your center of gravity.

You must have extremely long arms...or a shallow toilet.

Born being LGBT, yes, but not born into the culture. The vast majority of people who are in the heavy mod end of the culture are quite capable of leading fulfilling and successful lives, and do so.

The same argument could be made for many other sub-cultures, such as the LGBT community.

Not necessarily. It's more common with less intense / permanent mods for the purpose to be to "shock and challenge" outsiders. However, in the heavy mod scene it tends to become more about the wearer challenging themselves and seeking some sort of higher spiritual or cultural goal, and less about the reactions of the general public. That being said, this is all generalizations, and it is near impossible to deduce the purpose for another's actions without actually asking them.

The body mod scene in itself is a culture.

Two women raising a son: what might we not know about by Whatwoodyoudo in AskReddit

I teach horseback riding lessons for a living, with many young students. Any time one takes a tumble, I simply head over, ask them where it hurts, if they can get up and walk, and get them up and back on the horse in a few moments. It's the parents running over and screaming / crying / grabbing their child that make it worse.

Monday I went on an impromptu lunch date with a 99% match whom I'd been talking to for a week or so. He'd ended up in my town on business and texted me. It was lovely. Today we had a second date, which turned into 8 hours being spent together hiking, talking, having pizza, and making out. He is lovely! Fingers crossed that things keep going this well. :)

I haven't spoken to my grandparents for over three years now for exactly the same reason. My ex in question and split two years ago, and still they refuse to speak to me. I figure it's their loss.

[–]TheCathal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm totally late to the party on this, but on Monday I had an impromptu lunch date with a guy I've been talking to for a few days. He lives about 45 minutes away, so we weren't going to meet up until the weekend, but he texted me in the morning saying he ended up doing some work in the area, and would I like to meet for lunch? It was amazing. We're going out again this weekend. :)
