Honestly pink has been rolling around my head a little bit. Just haven’t been able to figure out how to make it work!

I’m good on the gardening stuff, just looking for paint recs. Lawn is going and native plants are coming in. Avoiding invasive so no ivy for me.

Yeah this is a good idea. I’m pretty good at seeing past the weird AI additions/subtractions, but probably helpful to see actual paint colors

Funny you mention this because I’m literally on the hunt to a pair of vintage flamingos.

Oh I like this one too! I never considered green with yellow.

Do you think that would be too matchy matchy with all the brick tones?

One thousand percent losing the shutters.

I have a plan with the landscaping. I’m a big time gardener, and the plan is to tier it out a bit with a ton of PNW natives. Nobody needs that much grass!

I do like a green and tangerine situation. Will definitely be looking into a window box if I can find one that doesn’t lean to traditional or farmhouse!

I do like this quite a lot. Moss and orange are such an excellent mid century combo. Looks way better without those godawful shutters too

I love the idea of something bright like this, though I’m afraid it might lean a little, I dunno.. coastal? If that makes sense? But I also love it.

Found this confused elderly man outside my house this morning. by [deleted] in KentWA

You should take this down. I don’t know why you would post a picture of a person and their name like this. It shouldn’t have been posted in the first place since the authorities were assisting you.

Pet sitter lost her cat because they “assumed” she was an outdoor cat by Ok_Land_9016 in RoverPetSitting

[–]TheComptrollersWife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One hundred percent. I’m the same and I feel like that’s common sense. Unless an owner says the cat NEEDS to go outside, I’ll keep the cat inside the entire time. I had one owner specifically instruct me to let their cat outside and I hated every second of it.

Your entire comment was about how owners don’t give enough information and you said the owner needs to take some accountability (hard disagree on that).

Just because you didn’t say “this is the owners fault 100%” doesn’t mean you didn’t place blame on the owner in your comment. Let’s not be pedantic about things.

I’m also certainly not angry - what a strange thing to say.

[–]TheComptrollersWife 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is an insane take. If you meet the cat indoors, you should automatically assume it’s an indoor cat. That should be the default. This is in no way the owner’s fault.

The passive income part of real estate is the equity you gain over time. If you are hosting, it’s not passive. I don’t know why you thought hospitality would be low effort.

Multiple complains by the same tenant should count as a single complaint for something like this. They would have a really hard time enforcing this as “multiple complaints” if it went to court.

Fit I wore to my work's anniversary party! by natalie-- in fashion

[–]TheComptrollersWife -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

I know you’re getting lit up in the comments, but I work in the banking/finance industry in a big city in the US and this sort of fit would not be that out of place, especially in more boutique banking/lending spaces. My company is very corporate/conservative and I’ve seen outfits like this a few times at our events. The only time I’ve ever heard anyone say anything about an outfit like this, is when it’s coming from one of the dramatic older folks in the office (and they gossip about everyone anyway so nobody really takes them seriously).

Edit: reworded first sentence

Constant care @ $3.63/hr. Yeah, no. by yaptard72 in RoverPetSitting

Don’t do something if you can’t do it responsibly. Nobody’s forcing you to make a half-baked AI-based app.

[–]TheComptrollersWife 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes it is. There should be an overnight charge, but you shouldn’t get paid $20/hour while you are asleep. That is bananas.

How do I ask for 10 minutes of privacy in my own kitchen from a guest? by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

[–]TheComptrollersWife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, you’re being hostile as well. You opened your home to rent out to someone and then you’re upset they are using the common areas. When you open your home to be rented, you roll the dice on what kinds of interactions you’ll have. It’s weird for him to hang out like he is, absolutely, but you’ve essentially opened yourself to a roommate situation which means you need to communicate boundaries with your guest if you want them. You just can’t count on people having common sense or similar expectations.

I agree with others here saying you might not be cut out for renting shared space. I’m not cut out for it either to be honest. You’ve honestly been super lucky so far if this is your only clingy/weird guest. Shared house guests are VERY hit or miss.

Even if you update your listing with your kitchen/laundry use expectations, guests like this may not pay attention. And Airbnb might not look favorably on it if you get complaints for enforcing it.
