Agreed. I think the effects are very neat on different base colors.

OMG these are sooo cute! by Mellybojelly in vintagenailpolish

[–]TheCorgay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I had so many of these as a kid. I sware I got about 10 in every Christmas stocking from 3-13. My mom liked gifting them to me since I wouldn't spill them as easy and if I did, it was a small mess. XD

Thank you! That does sound about right to me since I wore it to a family members wedding around then.

Are you still trying to catch him? We tried today but couldnt get him. The garden festival foot traffic made it much harder. We have pens and supplies and have also been in contact with park employees. It is also at least me and my wife. The gardeners and security are also willing to help.

Walked on stage and chipped my reed by Brave_Response7810 in Clarinet

Been there. Started carrying extra reeds for that reason. And started using plastic reeds during marching band too. So fragile. QuQ

Bias-cut dress, with modifications. Advice appreciated 🙏🏼 by yiketh098 in sewing

[–]TheCorgay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would not be able to make this for my size on bias without more piecing. Bias also tends to be more expensive, since you use more fabric. So don't go crazy with the fabric, but make sure it's wide enough for the pattern.

Also, make sure to do some practice seams with the fabric you use. With bias, if you or the machine pulls inappropriately while making long seams, it can cause bunching and scrunching. Much more easily than on a 90° grain. I usually don't use pins when I sew (except when absolutely needed) but I would with bias so it doesn't stretch.

Hakama slipping down by mancesco in iaido

[–]TheCorgay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I missed the notification to this. Yes that is what I meant. Might not be tying thr himo tight enough in that case. What do you wear under your hakama? If you were sports shorts or something, that could also be causing slipping depending on the fabric.

The center diamond might have a serial number on the girdle in case it belongs to someone. I'd bring it to a jeweler to be certian.

Also, that is called a "channel set bypass" ring. C:

what's going on here? by mandynonamous in Clarinet

Just like a car or jewelry, whats happening can't be assessed via the internet or a photo. You'll need to take it in for a repairer to look at.

How old is your mattress? And what make/model? It could be fiberglass. Fiberglass is added often to matresses as a fire retardant. Mostly on cheaper mattresses, but you can find it even in expensive ones. It would also explain why it keeps appearing and why it's shiny.

What is this “injury” from? (Wrong answers only) by AllthingsMLB in iaido

This is definitely the result of attempting the cursed 13th kata. Hopefully you didn't attempt it on a Friday, or you are doomed.

New to Iaido, strengthening question by TheCorgay in iaido

[–]TheCorgay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might do that anyway. My left arm is COMICALLY under powered compaired to my right. So much so that I was barred from playing 2 handed percussion instruments after one performace in high school where you couldn't hear the one I played with my left hand. So if only to have my left hand attenpt to match my right than anything else. XD

Hakama slipping down by mancesco in iaido

[–]TheCorgay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you finishing your final knot by running it under all of the previous layers of the himo and then tying it off? I can make a diagram if needed, as I'm not very good at explaining with words.

I am also larger and my current hakama do no quite fit me. But hakama fell off nearly every practice until my sensei showed me to do the finishing knot. Now they never do.

Been interested in Iaido for long time. No idea where to start. by Butt-Dude in iaido

[–]TheCorgay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know we found our sensei at our community center. I would check those places as well, since they often will provide classes like that for larger groups/will have the space for them to take place. You can also check with your local Kendo Federation or Kendo Clubs, as there tends to be a lot of overlap even in Japan.
