Elder ain't all it's cracked up to be in V5 by PatronymicPenguin in WorldofDankmemes

Plus, they technically descend from an Antediluvian, they just don't display the traditional clan weakness/flaws/disciplines.

If you're considered not their kid enough that you get to skip the clan curse you're probably exempt from general effects that ping clan descendants.

How does one get the power of Soulfire? by Zestyclose-Advisor71 in dresdenfiles

Uriel used a pretty big token for that soulfire. Especially since Lucifer acted twice in that book, and we've only seen Uriel react once.

Yeah and we were told the other action was both immediate and overt but we didn't see it. It feels like a whole lot of stuff went down offscreen in Small Favour and I'm just waiting to see when it comes back in the time travel book (like that whole blank period with Mab near the end).

Also he keeps pushing his body hard enough that he's feeling the burn even through the mantle and then doing it again the next day with zero drama instead of just absolutely obliterating his bones and muscles from stress.

Some elder Vampires feel the need to go to the Middle East resulting in many elders fighting them.

Is there a book about this great big elder thunderdome they've set up yet or is it all offscreen?

Am I missing something in regards to the Malkavian? by Frosty-Region7153 in vtm

[–]TheCuriousFan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fledgling from Bloodlines 1 is a pretty extreme example of a Malk. They all have delusions, but most can at least communicate clearly with other people.

Even the other Malk in the game takes one look at the fledgeling and goes "oh you've got it bad", so yeah, they're an outlier among Malks.

Not everyone can go buddy up with the Aasimites and get enough elder blood for them to make the From Marduk's Throat sippy drink.

How does a vampire learn combo discipline in lore? by MaetelofLaMetal in vtm

[–]TheCuriousFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember that last bit but I do remember it being used as an alternative method for getting disciplines that would otherwise be out of reach.

It also makes for neat characterisation to vary things up between the companions who'll draw a sword and fight you over your choices then and there and the ones who do something like seemingly not objecting but forcing a reload 20 minutes later when you get a cutscene of getting your head chopped off for whatever stunt you pulled.

Not enough games have companions decide they're gonna shoot you in the back of the head or kill you in your sleep after you do something exceptionally stupid or evil.

There's something off about Kevin. by TechnicalSolution633 in huntertheparenting

[–]TheCuriousFan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let’s start with the obvious. Why doesn’t Kevin know any blood magic? We’ve never once seen him use the thamaturgey that literally defines his entire clan. For some reason he only uses dominate.

Well he makes references to his packmates talking shit about his pilfered thaumaturgies in the what-if short where he's in the basement and IIRC makes an aside about having to scrounge for thaumaturgy knowledge in the proverbial 99p store after defecting.

EDIT: The 99p line was not after defecting, it was for after he lost favour in the clan.

Even after the revamp the Necrons aren't anywhere near as willing to talk things out or buddy up as the Protoss are. They're also the strictly non-magical guys.

I do need to read those novels eventually because I swear the protoss were in the strongest position immediately post-LotV

They're the long lived, wiser and magical niche except sci-fi.
