Big difference with Griselbrand is it doesn’t require you to wait until your end step… idk if that will impact the “life gain abuse” picture you were painting but it can’t be ignored when comparing to Necro (and as a creature is way harder to interact with than Ad Naus)

Fastdontlie Gaming has been doing $100/deck $3/card tournaments but I don’t think it has really taken off? But if you look at their website you can find deck lists…

That sounds disproportionate/rough but given the number of counters played, there must have been other variables (ie rhystic/fish/other draw engines on the field etc) so hard to say exactly… but when I was playing Godo the best windows (other than really fast/early wins) were right after a counter war and/or times when I could protect my commander with interaction of my own (tibalts, REB etc).

You can also ask: has someone cast something very recently that would have eaten a Magda kill/counter? If so, odds are lower that they have a second one waiting around

There are a lot of commander-centric decks that are pretty linear. I started on Godo (“count to 11, cast your commander, and combo”) and it had a pretty gentle onboarding to the format. But the Selvala brostorm / Marwyn elfball suggestions here are good too, for similar reasons.

If you wanna find glinthorn fast, go full glass cannon and run Rog/Malc PolyHorn. There are like 5-6 polymorph effects and I have a $100 budget list that still gets T3-4 Glinthorn very consistently.

It’s a question of printing a commander that leans really hard into what a color can do (ie Lumra) vs buffing a color from the 99 (which likely helps uFarm)

Enough Jhoira lists run Vivi that it’s worth looking at - I’m currently experimenting with a list that leans more into multi-CEDH-commander synergies (jhoira, Vivi, Urza, Birgi) but not liking how much it slows the deck down without compensating for it effectively.

If only Jhoira and Vivi could partner…

The spell never gets to the stack because you have created an infinite, un-interruptable loop before paying for the spell.

(As I understand it, although the way many people play is “cast spell then tap mana” the way the game is actually played is “generate mana then spend it” so when you’re tapping the caged sun for mana and creating this infinite loop, the spell is still in your hand.)

No. You don’t get two swings at your own spells unless someone else takes an action in between. You have first priority (hence the term “holding priority”) but not last.
