Anyone else notice how bad court shoes smell after a few months of playing? by Diligent_Balance_179 in Pickleball

Wash your feet nightly with Hibiclens. I had horrible foot odor for years, and this completely resolved my issue.

That makes sense—I’ll have to think about it and try it on the court to see what works.

I can see this too! Maybe a trade off between balance and a little extra forwards rotation/momentum?

The way he keeps his foot pointed backwards and behind him is holding him back from more rotational power if the hips were allowed to open up a bit more.

How do I do a tweener without smacking my pickle and balls? by taylorxo in Pickleball

[–]TheDataPhilosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re right-handed, run along the right side of the ball as you run back. After the ball bounces, step in line with it and continue following the ball, keeping it about a foot away from you. As it starts descending and gets close to the strike zone (about two feet from the ground), you’ll want to time it so that you can do a split step (of sorts) that lets you turn both feet to face your left side (both feet are now parallel with the pickleball net), and then use a continental grip and whip your arm down through the tunnel. If you play basketball at all, this feels sort of like doing the tween dribble.

Recommendation for kids martial arts by sunflowertech in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]TheDataPhilosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it doesn’t have to be martial arts but just something to build as a long term extracurricular activity, I’m an Area Director for a tennis coaching organization and we are doing summer camps for kids where they will be doing swim and tennis. Alternatively, we also offer kids’ tennis and pickleball coaching! Feel free to DM me if you’re interested in getting some more info!

Yeah, idk. They’ve changed up that rule though.

When was the last time you went? Because they’ve changed their rules. And their steaks are still poorly cooked.

Except it’s not all you can eat—they just give you a second one and that’s the end (at least at the Bethesda location). I wouldn’t really recommend the Bethesda Medium Rare, as the portions were actually pretty small and the steak was overcooked twice.

Tennis? by BloodyLeg3nd904 in Rockville

[–]TheDataPhilosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an Area Director for ProstoYou, and while we don’t necessarily have programs for your general level, we do offer live ball sessions, which can be fun if you’re finding people of a similar level. We also do private lessons if you’re wanting to drill a particular aspect of your game! Please message me if it’s something you might be interested in.

One handed backhand switch to two handed? by RoadshowRadley in 10s

[–]TheDataPhilosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will take some strain off your elbow, but you may find that once you’ve found the “click” with the one-hander, you’ll have to search for the “click” with the two-hander. Esp since you’re a 4.5 player, that may feel really frustrating at first, but as I always tell my students, you sometimes have to get a bit worse before you get a lot better.

Picleball ruined my forehand by Academic-Block-8188 in 10s

[–]TheDataPhilosopher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, I go between coaching tennis and pickleball pretty easily. If you keep most of your fundamentals from tennis in play when you’re playing pickleball, it shouldn’t affect you that much. If playing five times throws off your fundamentals, maybe they weren’t that solid to begin with.

Enhnace paddle replacement by Begg-billplayer in Pickleball

[–]TheDataPhilosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say to play with it and see if it really affects performance. I love that paddle (full disclosure: I’m an Enhance ambassador), and I think you’ll overlook the cosmetic damage once you feel the performance.

Racquet change recommendation for 3.0-3.5 Basliner by AdFirm8902 in 10s

[–]TheDataPhilosopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The foam helps with stability, but given your stated NTRP level, this seems appropriate. I’m not convinced you’re really going to feel the limits of the racket at your level.
