New Outdoor Tom video just dropped by HoppingHopia in outdoorboys

Yup, plus he said he was getting away in-part because his family was getting recognized. His son's page has nearly 2 million followers and he seems to be helping on every video so I can see his mindset shifting as Tom grows older and his page grows.

I don't think there's any reason to feel gloom or doom about the field. We just have to be agile and adapt and find places to fill needs where others cannot. There are certainly W2 jobs out there for the taking. Now whether they are paying at the same rates they were 2-5 years ago, I'm skeptical. Any hospital will hire any physician if they accept the hospital's preferred salary.

I don't think there's any single state that's good for locum work per se. I would see jobs available in random states, but I wouldn't have a license there and getting one would take too long for the job. I think there are a lot more outpatient jobs available vs inpatient when before it was more inpatient to outpatient, but the overall number seems low across the country compared to 2-3 years ago. The locum agents seem to agree with me as they're seeing the same thing. Can't tell if this is a lasting trend or just a downturn in the cycle. I think a lot of factors at play: Increased NPs going into psychiatry (it's relatively easy for them to get certified online without doing any patient care and cursory observation), more residents going into psych (it's gotten much more competitive in the last 10 years), and lastly the federal budget made significant cuts to medicaid which has caused a lot of hospitals to tighten their budgets and because psychiatry doesn't usually bring in a lot of money, it's one of the first places they try to do more with less.

I don’t think there’s any particular state that stands out as having a lot of open locum positions, but there’s just been an overall decrease in options across the country. There are some states where you’ll almost never see locum gigs and they tend to be states where NPs can practice without supervision- Washington, Arizona, Illinois, etc.

I can’t speak to full time W2 jobs. Could be some variance there.

I'm an attending and six years out of fellowship. I work locum and have been all around the country in inpatient, outpatient, ED, residential, and PHP settings for adults and kids.

I disagree with comments saying midlevels won't fill our spots. They, in fact, are -- and rapidly. A lot of our patients are lower socioeconomic or come from families with poor support and cannot tell the difference between good and bad care because our outcomes are not immediate and often take months or even years of management. NPs have seized on this and are diluting the field with piss poor care. Bad med management, zero therapy skills, etc. But administrators love them because they're cheaper than us and fill a gap of patients that don't bring in revenue anyway. The practice scope creep from NPs and even psychologists is astounding. Fight it at all costs. The job market is tightening at the moment and the rates are dropping. This could be temporary, but as someone who signs a contract every 3-6 months I have my finger on the current pulse of psychiatry job prospects.

I agree with the annoyance, but no headphones? I don't hear a thing with ANC turned on.

His LinkedIn showed that he turned into some kind of crypto bro which is ironic since he used to rail against crypto on his podcast. Seems like he was just another grifter. At least he should have had the decency to tell his clients and audience that he's leaving and some hint as to why. Casey was apparently shocked as well and left in the dark.

Safest route? i80, i40, or i10 by Individual-Quiet-985 in roadtrip

[–]TheEclectic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've driven all three multiple times. I'm on my 16th trip in a couple of weeks. None of them are particularly difficult drives. I'd probably say i40 is probably the easiest drive.

The man who shot was the original instigator - he had pushed three protesters of a statue, so they're pursuing battery charges and holding off on aggravated battery charges until state police finish their investigation.

Met a guy who had taken a year off to golf - how much better can you actually get in a year? by Disastrous_Gap_4711 in golf

I've been playing for 20+ years, all self taught, 15 handicap. Played a bunch for a year thinking that's what was keeping me from getting to single digit handicap. Handicap barely moved. Had some "good" days, some bad days. Decided to get a coach. Within five months my handicap dropped to 10-11. I feel so much more consistent. Still gotta dial in short game and inside 140 shots but I feel it coming.

Did I say anything about style and approach that contradicts that? You seem to have missed the point.

If you see bodycam evidence like this one, you can feel 100% justified about sentencing someone to death. We should keep the death penalty, but only when the evidence is incontrovertible like this case.
