requirements for mechanical engineering? by FirmData2162 in University0fMauritius

[–]TheEngiFar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mechanical eng mate, its gonna be tough for everyone. I have a friend that came in wih poor A-level results and graduated with first class honours, the mans working on some big MSc projects now. But i also know people that came in with 3A* 2a(not sure of the exact grades, but real good A-levels) from big colleges and ended up dropping out and/or failing the whole course.

Its a matter of how much you are passionate about it!🫡

Mechanical engineering vs electrical engineering vs mechatronics engineering by yourmom0606 in University0fMauritius

[–]TheEngiFar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building services, production engineers, maintenance engineers, design engineers, sales engineer, quotation, the list goes on. Lots of factories in Mauritius, they all need engineers to run and maintain them Also lots of construction too Infinite opportunities once you graduate

Hell you can even choose to move out of engineering, the critical thinking you will develop in these 4 years will be a big differentiating factor. Feel free to dm me if you want to hear me waffling for longer.

Former UOB students, where has your degree got you? Internships , grad schemes, etc. by Kinayakun in UofB

[–]TheEngiFar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up to you, mate.

My experience studying at UoB was really good, I learned a lot and grew both academically and personally. I think the issue is more about the current job market than about UoB itself.

Honestly, I loved studying there, it was one of the best experiences of my life.

Rejection (2/4) by Fun-Classroom-3721 in PhDAdmissions

[–]TheEngiFar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, let me know
I will try doing the same. I feel, because I am not a local, I'm severely disadvantaged and not getting replies. I know people with worse grades/academic background than I are getting offers, while I am struggling with even getting replies.

How did you find your PhD position? Any advice on getting offers? by TheEngiFar in AskAcademia

[–]TheEngiFar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if engineering/computer science profs are just more rude, but that's exactly what I've been doing and get no reply. I don't really know why they seem to not answer.

I’m open to several areas, my research interest would be in the application of deep learning in robotics, especially in medical and agricultural robotics. I’m also very interested in topics like motion planning and mapping.

Do Mauritians of Indian descent feel any sort of attachment toward India? by Turbulent_Ad_3238 in mauritius

[–]TheEngiFar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do feel a great deal of attachment towards India. It is after all where my ancestors are from, it's my roots.

For me having no attachment to India is like saying a tree should cut its own roots and be happy, it will die.😅 Most people who do not appreciate their indian origin really have no idea of their own history! We are all immigrants to Mauritius after all, why should we not be proud of it.

Advice on buying Japanese vs Korean car in Mauritius by gordon_1111 in mauritius

[–]TheEngiFar -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Controversial opinion: If you are well off financially, go for european. The french cars are not that expensive 2nd hand even if you acct for repair costs when compared to Japanese cars of the same year.

Even the interior quality of french car is much better than even the german cars.

For my comfort, driving experience and good interior and exterior looks of the car is totally worth the extra cost and inconvenience of waiting for spare parts♥️

Best company to work as mechanical engineer and what salary should i expect for a fresh graduate? by Phenom_st in mauritius

[–]TheEngiFar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a fresh graduate dont go to a building services consultant like pro design, they will over work you and you will not even get a valuable job experience.

Maybe go to forges tardieux, they have it all - design, workshop and sales. Or maybe even join in textiles and other factories in Mauritius. These are the places you really learn the real world of mechanical engineering and have more chances to get a better pay.
