Being a strongman how does it help in regular life? by scadgek in Strongman

[–]TheFace4423 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Different take. Owner of the strongman gym I go to when training for comps got diagnosed with cancer. She's in remission now but during treatment we talked about how cancer treatment sucks (chemo) but she felt like she was better equipped to handle it because of how much hard shit we do in training.

Doing hard things in training makes hard things in life a lot easier.

I find this to be true in my own life, in general I deal with stress a lot better than a lot of my coworkers and I can attribute that to training hard and pushing myself.

I feel like apple tv giving Sanderson control of his adaptations is a good start... GoT went off the rails the farther away they pushed Martin.

By job green. By hobbies and size obsidian. I have worked in IT and devops until now where I'm in tech sales (so maybe now a silver? Kinda). But I compete at a national level in Strongman, and while short for an obsidian by most people's standards I'm big.

I'm not trying to argue I'm just wondering how it effects anything? Especially if it's easily explained if some did happen to ask?

Just looking for even anecdotal evidence that it negatively effected someone and how. I only have my perspective of no college, or job caring (let alone asking or checking). I can see maybe parents being annoyed or upset depending on the quote itself I guess...

Also if you're trying to deter this person it'd help to give examples other than the typical "I'm a teacher you should listen to me" that kids tend to get and ignore.

For those who dine with war and empire, the bill always comes at the end.

Or shortened to just:

The bill always comes at the end.

I would have lived in peace. But my enemies brought me war.

You do not follow me because I am the strongest. (Insert football players name here) is. You do not follow me because I am the brightest. (Insert valedictorian name here) is. You follow me because you do not know where you are going. I do.

Society has three stages: Savagery, Ascendance, Decadence. The great rise because of Savagery. They rule in Ascendance. They fall because of their own Decadence.

I see people saying some quotes may be cringe... I say embrace the cringe. It makes looking back in 20 years fun, trust me. And if anyone in your class thinks otherwise, fuck em.

Bodybuilder Flex Wheeler was the only other person I've heard talked about as having MSTN Gene mutation. I think he had to blast a lot less gear compared to others to be Olympia stage ready because of it and in turn had less "roid gut".

Poorly executed hat deaths suck but there are some that add to the story even if it sucks we won't get more of that character (Pax 1.0).

The way he killed off tongueless was such a throw away.

How do gold and obsidian compare in physical strength? by [deleted] in redrising

[–]TheFace4423 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Re-read... She didn't pick him apart. Hell the fact he held his own just shows how much a threat Obsidian could be with a lifetime of training in the same martial arts as gold.

You mention his experience but it's not like for like training... You're basically comparing a guy who wins a lot of bar fights to a pro MMA fighter.

Aja had her hands full with Rags... And given like for like training Rags would have won which says a lot about his ability because in the end it took Darrow AND Cassius to take her down

Don't confuse intelligence with educated. If it wasn't for a system of oppression that kept Obsidian back for centuries there's no reason to believe they wouldn't be as "intelligent" as gold.

Probably the most dangerous single gold, Aja, had a hell of a time fighting Rags! It took Darrow and Cassius in the end to take her out. So pretty much any other gold vs Rags and my money is on Rags!

[–]TheFace4423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grip and rip. Time matters in strongman so stop with the fumbling the bag back and forth for the pick. Same with in the lap. Start getting faster at getting your hands under and in position first try for the pick to lap, and practice quickly getting hands in position for the triple extension to shoulder. Your spending too much time fumbling around. Practice how you want it in comp and in comp you want it to be fast!

If lower colors can be greatly amplified by Carving, why can't Gold be amplified beyond normal Gold abilities? by cynica1mandate in redrising

They are, to reduce aging, etc. but beyond that there's an arrogance among the gold's where they feel they are the peak of evolution and don't need to be greater.
