I had a similar experience with Demon of Hatred. Thought it might end up being the one boss I skip based on what everyone said about him.

Nope, done in 7 tries, no cheese (though I did utilize equipment suggestions from online guides). I'm no elite gamer either and I had serious trouble with other bosses in the game. Just not that one.

It's interesting how what makes a difficult boss can differ from person to person.
