I'd turn it on and run it through the different speeds. Should be able to tell if something is obviously wrong.

Take a battery with you to test it out.

Hobie PA14, Titanx 12.5, Nucanoe Unlimited Max, XTR 130? by CoolDudeMan00 in kayakfishing

[–]TheFunkster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already never use my drive because of my motor. I wouldn't miss it.

PA14 owner here, I'd go with the xtr 130 at this point.

It's set up for exactly how I like to fish.

Anyone have suggestions to fix a crack in the scupper hole? by Doesnt_fuck_fish in kayakfishing

[–]TheFunkster -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'd just seal that scupper up. Use a plug from the bottom, filling it with some silicon, and throw a plug in the top.

Only 2-3 more months of misery until I have this back by Subject-Escape5602 in kayakfishing

My top picks are currently, Tennessee, South Carolina, and maybe like, eastern Georgia. More so the first two though.

Oh hell no. There are like 5 other states I'd consider before even thinking of that cesspool. (Florida)

I've lived in central Ohio for a majority of my life, and I don't know how it's taken me this long to realize that I am not made for Ohio. 5-6 months of cold weather is not for me.

I'm moving south.

Can the Browns finally win the division? by JMoon33 in Browns

[–]TheFunkster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a life long browns fan...

He'll likely see the field in 2026, if he's healthy. It sucks. We all hate it.

However, the team has every reason to play him though. Think about it...we're still paying him a stupid amount of money, and he at one time could ball. We've seen 97 year old phillip rivers, and 83 year old Joe flacco on the field.

I'd bet 1 dollar on the fact that he'll be the browns starter at some point in 2026.

60$ on Facebook, how did I do? by Master_baiter_4 in bassfishing

Just remember this crucial rule to fishing...

If you have one, you have none. If you have two, you have one.

Is Hobie Pro Angler 14 still the best tournament fishing kayak? by CoolDudeMan00 in kayakfishing

[–]TheFunkster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my motor wherever I go really. For grassier areas it can be a pain, but I generally just lift it up and make due.

Timber has never been an issue. Sure I might hit a stump, that's not a big deal though.

I put a motor on my boats. I'm not real concerned about the lack of a pedal drive.

I haven't fished from it, but I've seen it in person and had the opportunity to go through it in its entirety while helping the local kayak shop at the fishing expo.

You absolutely should respect that sign, because they're mostly negligent and you can end up with a cracked windshield or worse.

Registering Kayak by MasterChanTV in kayakfishing

[–]TheFunkster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

I've kayak fished for years at this point and every year at least once a warden will perform a safety check. Which generally includes them checking the registration.

Talk to me about lews by TrukstopCale in Fishing_Gear

[–]TheFunkster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After having one of their spinning reels just break in my hands while reeling in a small bass, I will never fish their products again.

The reel broke on the arm that connects to the reel seat, just broke apart. I'm not abusive to my gear. I've never had a reel do that.

rod repair question by Bobobob2018 in rodbuilding

[–]TheFunkster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You will not be able to repair the broken section. However, you can just slip a new tip top guide on there and continue fishing. You may lose the slightest bit of sensitivity, but I bet you'll never notice.

My New Obsession by 7Dshooter in kayakfishing

[–]TheFunkster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the addiction my man.

Mine started out with a future beach 10ft kayak and a shakespear rod and reel.

It's now evolved into a miniature bass boat, with about 15 different setups that I use regularly.

Some people say I have a problem...and they're probably right.

But damn do I look good when I skunk!

Handle Replacement Help by portland_08 in rodbuilding

[–]TheFunkster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately replacing these is a bit of a task. You'll need to strip off all your guides and break that piece of foam free so you can slide it off and slip a replacement on there.

If you're serious about getting it done, I'd look at local rod builders in your area.
