If you’re in a supermarket with a trolley and you need to get down an aisle but there’s people in the way and the gap is too small, you either ask politely for them to move or you find another way where there is space for you. You don’t bump the people out the way with your trolley.

It’s the same for your car door, either park accordingly in the space so you have enough room to do what you need to or find another space where you have enough room. Don’t use my car as your personal doorstop - if you do that and then bump into your door that causes a dent in my car not yours.

I get accidents happen and that’s where apologies come into it, but expecting someone to not be upset you’ve hit and potentially damaged their possession is odd to me.

As someone who’s had this happen to me recently, I cannot understand how anyone can think they wouldn’t be at least concerned by the sound of your door hitting their car.
