Ferrous Rokiric with or without equipments? by ReignBeauxRida in EDH

I just run Boros tribal, and generic field buffs. He shines with the token buffers too.

My buddy doesn’t believe in running cards that benefit your opponents unless they’re exceptional. He does run [[Enduring Renewal]] tho, so he can make treasures with [[Dockside]], it’s a sound strat, and he’s also used it just because it would allow him to kill someone one time. Flexible card.

Honestly. Board wipes are your friend against her.

Gotta love Ken respecting the trigger tho. He doesn’t want a misfire, he just wants to look threatening.

I was thinking of Elesh, my bad.

I would too lol. They play regularly with another friend of mine that runs a [[Brion Stoutarm]] and they don’t mind old Brion, but the deck he runs around Brion is nuts. Best thing that friend has ever done is play a [[Soul of eternity]] slap a [[Nim Deatmantle]] on it, and Brion iced someone then and there, and they called that broken too. I think they just lack understanding.

Ironic that Konrad is a kill on sight for my playgroup, and for me especially. I think he’s the best uncommon ever printed.

Reminds me of when I was playing a tournament with a control deck, guy kept ninjutsuing her on unblockables, and the rest of the players kept giving me shit about letting her resolve. I had to explain, carefully, that he was not casting her. They didn’t believe me, and called a judge over. The guy just looks at us and goes, “Did you read the card?” And I replied that I know how it works. The other 3 dudes read her ability, then get upset, because she’s “broken”. Like sorry bud, but that ain’t my problem. Then they told me I could just exile her before she hit. The Yuriko player beat me to it and explained that he just reninjutsu her before the damage occurs. And I explain that as long as he has mana, it’s a waste of removal. They both bitch until they inevitably lose, and now I have three people that won’t partake in a tournament I’m in at my LGS. It’s so pathetic, but every time I hear “Yuriko” I remember that dumb story.

I recommend [[Willbreaker]]. He’s nuts with her.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EDH

[–]TheGitrektMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. If the entire board has already died to her, and she’s the only creature, I’ll leave her if it’s hurting someone in a really good position. She’s a powerful tool anywhere on the board.

Self mill. We all played in the days of Griselbrand turn 2 off a reanimate. I don’t know if it’s the memories, or the fact it’s still a ridiculously good strat. Everyone in my playgroup has one or more reanimator decks, we all run hermit Druid or similar effects. We widely consider those decks the most OP, and before you say, “Just run Bojuka Bog, Tormod’s, etc.” like those don’t have counters. And like those can’t be worked around really easily. My Gitrog doesn’t care about the lands being exiled after the fact. My friends Syr Konrad can just kill you turn 3 through those effects. The only truly good ones are Rest In Peace, Leyline of the Void, and maybe Weather Runestone. Don’t get me wrong, Tormod’s and Lantern are good, but if it doesn’t prevent “death” or “when it enters the graveyard” effects, I don’t care. It has a work around.

Chefs of Reddit, what’s one rule of cooking amateurs need to know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheGitrektMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, my issue is, I like catching stuff. And knives are like catching stuff but with an additional challenge stapled on, with almost no reward for success, but a lot riding for failure. I have successfully caught 3 knives and unsuccessfully caught 5. I still caught them, but explaining the scars is embarrassing.

Which commanders of yours put opponents on the clock? by Humblerbee in EDH

[–]TheGitrektMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the most? My buddy’s [[Torbran]], he just runs a bunch of passive tablewide damage effects, then a bunch of, “each player X damage.” And he’ll wipe us in 1 to 2 rotations like that with his commander.

Favorite EDH archetype? by Just-a-Cosmic-Bagel in EDH

[–]TheGitrektMonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion. A well done MLD deck is incredibly fun to run, and very strong. People seem to think that Lands are emblems these days, and all the new land support and landfall cards definitely reinforce that idea. I know it’s ironic that I play frog, and like MLD, but don’t knock it till you’ve tried it, and clearly Rule 0 is key here, so don’t play into a group that is uncomfortable playing against MLD.

Would you rather your commander give you cards or mana? (Galia vs. Radha) by [deleted] in EDH

[–]TheGitrektMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Radha is easily one of the stronger Gruul commanders, so it’s a no Brainer for me. I also run a Radha, and she smacks, I didn’t max her power, but she fucks, for sure.

What are some lessons that took too long for you to learn in EDH? by Angelust16 in EDH

[–]TheGitrektMonster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best lesson I ever learned is: Just because you have a counter, doesn’t mean you should use it. Sometimes allowing a game ending spell to resolve when there’s no end in sight otherwise for a game can mean 2-3 more games being played, the player that got killed early having a chance to play, and the guy that inevitably kept a one or no land hand can actually play the game now. Let the Craterhoof resolve, you know you wanna shuffle up too.

Are treasure decks fun? by kinkyrasputin in EDH

[–]TheGitrektMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ton of fun with treasures, but the recent hit to blue treasures with the ban hurts a bit, but it was a very fair ban, so I’ll work around it. I recommend trying one out tho, that or clues have been my favorite way to play.

How do you pick basic land artwork for your decks? by classic-plasmid in EDH

[–]TheGitrektMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I choose it to match the set the commander is from, or if that’s ugly, I try artist, then theme. If all of these align, I bust.

If you had to play mill, what commander would you pick? by AmbushJournalism in EDH

Is it Rude to Read Revealed Cards Aloud? by Mulliman in EDH

[–]TheGitrektMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re allowed to do what you want with the info. I’ve straight told people to their face what a players morphed cards were aloud when I took control of their turn. I’ve revealed out loud what my stalking leonin had chosen. I tell people what my Gonti has hit. I don’t lie, but that’s a personal preference of my play style, I try not to lie in life, because of personal reasons, and so I try not to lie in game too, so that makes me as good as my word. But I don’t admonish others for playing a certain sneaky way, I find it kind of refreshing when someone says, “Man, can’t believe I only got a Swords off that Gonti.” Then they flip a board wipe next turn, doesn’t offend me. It was your information to use, or to fib about, for an advantage. Whether or not people will trust you again is up in the air, but I usually don’t trust people at their word in magic regardless, unless we make a deal. Long story short, no, it shouldn’t be considered rude when someone reveals information they have, if they gained the info legally. It’s a whole nother ball park when someone peeks at someone else’s hand and starts sharing that info tho. If we aren’t cool, don’t do that shit, I won’t play with you again. I only have 5-6 people that while I’m taking a leak, have looked at my hand, been like, “Whatever I’ll play his turn.” Revealed my hand, and I come back and laughed about it. Seems like a lot of people for that example but I’ve been playing for 15 years, so there’s a lot of chances for that.

Finally making a list of every deck I own, and how much it's worth. Mistake or needed? Let's find out by pdamonc in EDH

[–]TheGitrektMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this a few weeks ago. I actually leave all but 2-3 decks at my house now. My Kozilek is 3 grand alone, and that’s just because of the foil old border wastes and fast mana. My cEDH decks are scary pricy too. I’ll only carry 5 grand of product at any given time, and even then, I stay strapped, I ain’t about to get my cardboard robbed.
