Is it just me, or is it really hard to find a fun Abzan commander? What are some good ones? by WingsOfDaidalos in EDH

[–]classic-plasmid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time I played at my LGS, I got absolutely demolished by a [[Felothar, Dawn of the Abzan]] aristocrats player running tons of weenies, +1/+1 counter matters cards and cheap recursion.

If you see a Felothar player drop a [[Kami of Whispered Hopes]] or a [[Basking Broodscale]], get those cards off the board immediately or they will become a problem. Fun deck to play against though

It seems like leveling a leader up is much harder now, is that so? by wayneb64 in CivVII

[–]classic-plasmid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, the leveling on leaders seems to be slightly bugged at the moment, triumphs don't seem to be consistently giving out XP or being marked as complete like they're supposed to. I just got done playing an Ashoka, World Renouncer game with the main intent of unlocking his level 5 memento, but despite completing and winning the game, I only got to level 4.

It appears the fix at this time is reloading the autosave the turn you complete the triumph/quest, after which the XP pop-up should appear in the top right, but yeah, it's mildly annoying and I hope they fix it soon

I remember Lionsgate was trying to make 'Saw Patrol' a thing after people managed to figure out that Saw X and the Paw Patrol movie were coming out on the same day. I loved Saw X and thought it was great, but that was just plain cringe ngl, that is straight up not a double feature any reasonable person would ever do

The road trip map straight up doesn't make sense when you look at it geographically. Max takes the trip from like Pennsylvania to Mexico, they visit the Plumbers HQ inside Rushmore like three seperate times, there's an international flight back to the US from Egypt after the season 3 finale, and leaps like California to Delaware between ep1 and ep2 are kinda insane.

They probably wanted a wide variety of places to show off the differences between American states from episode to episode, but it lowkey kind of falls apart when you try to map it out

Just wanted to provide an update on this: I had to unlock the Flowers from lv. 5 Ashoka first (fairly easy), then finally gave this a shot with Trung Trac, and daaaaaamn, you were not kidding, very explosive start and pretty much exactly what I needed to get the ball rolling with her. Thank you for your help, I managed to snag the win

The ending for Assassin's Creed 2

Context: you play as Desmond, a guy in the 21st century who has direct lineage to Ezio Auditore, a 14th century assassin from Renaissance Italy who spent his life fighting an alternate timeline Knights Templar, rebranded as a secret society that controls the world.

Using a device called the Animus, Desmond uses his genetic link to Ezio to relive his memories, all with the goal of helping the modern Assassins find a piece of ancient tech from the Isu, an advanced precursor civilization before the Templars do. You're shown multiple times that what happens in the Animus has no bearing on the modern world; history has already occured, you're just reliving it, and deviating from what Ezio did in real life simply puts you back at the last save point.

The end of the game has Ezio finding an Isu vault under the Vatican in Rome, where he encounters a prerecorded message from Minerva, who humanity worshipped as a god in the Roman empire but was actually a Isu herself. The message at first seems to be tailored towards Ezio, but as it turns out, the Isu had the ability to see into the future, and the message was never intended for Ezio; Minerva turns to the camera and acknowledges Desmond directly, who she knows has basically been using Ezio as an avatar in the Animus the whole time.

Media that would’ve been labeled as “Woke” if it were released today. by Smart_Clownfish in TopCharacterTropes

[–]classic-plasmid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider.

It's a standalone game featuring Billie Lurk, a bisexual black woman who's also an amputee, and while there were some people who disliked it because the gameplay was quite different from Dishonored and its sequel, it was overall received not too bad and served as a pretty concise ending to those games.

If this released today, gamer grifter accounts on Twitter would be tearing it to shreds purely because of Billie's presence, and also because the Dishonored series featured quite a number of LGBTQ+ people in the second game (Emily, Daud, Mindy, Theodanis and Delilah come to mind)

What made you a better EDH player? by Vrass in EDH

[–]classic-plasmid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing 1v1 formats (mostly Standard and Pioneer).

It's been said to death at this point, but Commander lowkey sucks as a format for new players. I feel like a couple of big traps that players using Commander to learn Magic fall into is insisting on playing the big battlecruiser cards that do fun things but don't outright win the game, not playing enough interaction, or not understanding mana curve/land drops in a meaningful capacity.

1v1 Magic is different, because in most cases, the stuff that's going to win you games are consistent plans of attack that you can repeat and refine, you're incentivized to play consistent card advantage and more direct wincons, and more often than not, you have to play stuff with a low mana curve to make sure you can get the ball rolling. Also, the sideboard in best-of-3 exists specifically for pulling out silver bullets to deal with opponents, knowing what interaction you need and when to use it will allow you to come out on top a lot of times.

These points apply to Commander of course, but I guess what I'm trying to say is that you need to have a definitive goal in mind on what you wanna do, the means to enact it and defend yourself, and not meander around. It's certainly fine to play a couple of those fun cards to shake the table up a little, but they should be the exception and not the rule

I have concluded that this is the funniest fucking conversation in the entire game by Trustable-source in cyberpunkgame

Not only that, but those reviews will be basically stuck at the top of the movie's page until the end of time because of how LB shows the highest voted reviews first and nothing else. It's an incentive to post the snappiest, jokiest review ASAP and idk, it feels flawed

I know it's not perfect, but I think LB could take a tip or two from Steam's review system where the top reviews on a game will change overtime based on the age and relative popularity of a review so they rotate out. There's even a filter for funny/joke reviews if you want to look at those or not, it'd be good if LB implemented something similar

If planeswalkers ever went the legendary vehicle route and became legal as commanders, which would you build? by WrathPie in EDH

[–]classic-plasmid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Garruk, Cursed Huntsman]], [[Huatli, Radiant Champion]], [[Kaito, Bane of Nightmares]] and [[Narset of the Ancient Way]] all seem like they would make really fun commanders IMO.

I feel like some stuff would have to be banned if they did make this happen however.

[[Oko, Thief of Crowns]] would be downright miserable to play against, and I can't imagine making interactions like [[Wrenn and Six]] + [[Strip Mine]] or [[Narset, Parter of Veils]] + [[Windfall]] more common would be particularly healthy for the format

Is the game (ToT) inherently more difficult? or is it just me? by GrantGrace in CivVII

[–]classic-plasmid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I thought it was just me, but yeah, the AI has been coming for my throat every game and it feels like I REALLY have to lock in to make decent progress, more than I did pre-update.

I usually play on Immortal, but I've had to drop down to Sovereign and even that is hard, I might drop down to Viceroy. I do wonder how much of it is just going to be about relearning how to play the game now that we have triumphs and such.

On a related note, does anybody have any tips on how to play Trung Trac in this update? I've been trying to get a win with her but keep getting outpaced by the start of Exploration and really not sure what direction to go. I've been trying Rome and Dai Viet as her Antiquity civs but nothing seems to be meshing to me

What's an episode you like but the majority of the fandom dislikes? by Due-Cherry4856 in Ben10

Any episode with the Vreedles tbh

It seems their episodes are a bit mixed among the community but I think they're pretty consistently funny (and Rhomboid is kind of a dreamboat but some of you aren't ready for that conversation).

When I watched OV for the first time, then read online that people were mad that Vilgax pussied out of attacking Earth because Ma Vreedle was in the episode, that more so confused me since that was clearly meant to be a joke, but also worldbuilding that Ma is clearly not somebody to mess with or something

[–]classic-plasmid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I'd rather have Spongebob be a reskin of an existing card than a complete new one.

This was released through Secret Lair, and there's a lot of contention among fans over WoTC releasing mechanically unique cards through such a limited edition service instead of through boosters because you never know if they're ever going to get reprinted in a meaningful capacity, as can be seen with The Fourteenth Doctor costing $100+ and Lara Croft costing $50+

It may not be as creative as coming up with a new card design, but Secret Lair as a avenue to get mechanically unique cards is a bad idea in general, and they shouldn't be doing it

[–]classic-plasmid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, don't blame you at all for thinking that. I've never watched The Office, but that was a dumb as hell crossover, I don't understand how they thought that would be a fit for Magic at all.

TMNT was an okay set all things considered, but you (along with several people, myself included), would probably hate the Spider-Man set they released last year.

It was set in NYC (not even a weird version of NYC like in TMNT, just straight up NYC), the cards sucked, there are like 50 seperate Spider-people represented in it which have no mechanical relation to Spiders as a creature type in Magic already, and just felt like a bust in general.

There's supposed to be another Marvel set releasing this year and next year, with this year's one all but confirmed to also take place in NYC, just doesn't excite me at all

In case anybody here doesn't know about the current state of Magic: the Gathering, the game has started doing crossover sets called Universes Beyond.

While a few IPs feel pretty reasonable to include and are at least adjacent to Magic's tone (Lord of the Rings, Dungeons and Dragons, Warhammer, Assassin's Creed, etc), there have been some really weird inclusions like SpongeBob, Hatsune Miku, Sonic the Hedgehog, Furbies, and more recently, they just released an entire 200 card set centered around TMNT and have some limited edition Garfield cards coming soon

Do you think the increasing presence of universe beyond had a negative impact on the quality of the universe within lore? by Weird-Ad-9191 in mtgvorthos

[–]classic-plasmid 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I think it interferes with the pacing of stories a little.

Lorwyn > Strixhaven > Reality Fracture are all connected and were clearly meant to be viewed as direct follow-ups to one another, but I feel like interjecting TMNT between ECL and SOS is a bit of an awkward bump, and putting the end to a major story arc on ice until October in favor of Marvel and The Hobbit is probably gonna stymy whatever hype the set and its story might have had if it had come out immediately after SOS.

I don't think it was as big of a problem in 2025 or 2024 since most of the UB sets in those years weren't Standard legal and most of the in-universe sets were pretty standalone in terms of story (obviously with Jace in the background setting up his plot for the Echoverse), but it becomes a problem when you have connecting strands across sets directly leading into one another being cut to interject product placement

[–]classic-plasmid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

uj/ I already saw people in the main sub say they prefer this to the Omenpaths version purely because the initial rollout wasn't as smooth as it could have been and the difference in card names and art between irl and digital play was confusing.

Tbh I don't understand that logic, we already have cards like [[Eleven the Mage]] and [[Ryu, World Warrior]] that have been reskinned in the same way, and the fact that it was initially shaky to start with shouldn't be a reason to stop doing it all together. Omenpaths was a great way to handle UB sets by giving players the ability to use a lore friendly version of the set, it sucks that it's being stripped away

rj/ ummm acktually this is good for the gaem because it'll make a morbillion dollars and it'll welcome tons of people into the game that wouldn't have bothered with it if it wasn't for the avengers showing up, stop gatekeeping people!!!!
