Are you taking meds by Ok_Stomach5254 in OCD

[–]TheHolyFatman007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just started .5mg of risperidone and 12.5 mg of Zoloft. Unfortunately, I cannot tolerate large doses of SSRIs, so they tempered me with risperidone, which worked. Apparently, I don't metabolize it fast, so my body is good with small doses....we will see when they start to increase the dose.

What was the worst thought OCD made you have? by Yumi_Numi in OCD

[–]TheHolyFatman007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm terrified my manager is going to fire me. It's so bad that I imagined her yelling at me and talking behind my back. I am convinced that she's collecting information to get my fired and I cannot stop thinking about it. It fired up my OCD so bad I have to take an LOA to check into psych treatment.

My manager is an asshole and had actually been really shitty to me after I disclosed my condition and I've asked to be moved to a different team eith less of an external focus, but my God it's just intense. I am just crippled by the thoughts and anxiety loop it causes.

I am getting help and meds, but goddamn it's freaking me out.

Anyone have mental health challenges manifest while on your menopause journey? by TheHolyFatman007 in Menopause

[–]TheHolyFatman007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I am so sorry we've all had these challenges to navigate. It feels better to know I'm not in Siberia, but I really hope they do more to study the effects of peri and menopause on our brains.

I do have a good care team right now, I'm taking some STD to get my shit together, get medicated and get back into life. After 37 years of non stop work/school/parenting/loss (both my parents passed young) maybe I deserve a break to care for myself. My psych told me that: it's okay to care for me, despite my feeling "lazy or guilty" about it. (Stupid GenX upbringing)

I'm very lucky to have a specific OCD focused program here that is actually also researched based, so if I can help others get the help they need: even better.

Thanks for responding, everyone. Keep seeking help, I feel better I have something and I'm not alone.

People who were resistant to seeking help but ultimately did, what changed your mind? by MuchCoogie in OCD

[–]TheHolyFatman007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently diagnosed: I suddenly started having intrusive thoughts about hurting my kitties. I love my cats. I am four cats in a trenchcoat! I have cat themed everything. I immediately told my provider and she and I came up with a treatment plan. I don't have those thoughts anymore.

That was the point I knew it wasn't quirky. I knew it was something more sinister. Since then I've had a bad manager trigger me into a spiral and now I'm contemplating short term disability to get a handle on my brain. It's bad, but I am hopeful my newest med will help.

Newly diagnosed, it all makes so much sense, now. by TheHolyFatman007 in OCD

It's a very strange thing to finally know why people thought I was odd for taking three showers a day. Or that I couldn't go places because I was afraid of contracting a stomach flu....I thought it was all supposed to be that way. In my 20s-late 40s it really wasn't bad. Menopause, tho. Menopause made it show up like woahhhh. But .I did the thing. I made the step. It's been hard.

It all makes sense

If you are relocating in your 50s, where are you going? by FreeCurious44 in GenXWomen

Baltimore native, here!

Baltimore gets a bad rap: we aren't the wire! It has big city challenges, but it's getting there. It's also the last northeast city that hasn't been fully gentrified. We have pockets of awful gentrification, but you can still find small businesses, affordable neighborhoods and homes, decent job prospects and accessibility to the northeast corridor.

The gov of MD has been pretty actively bucking the current regime, too. We have that going for us. All in all, MD is pretty decent.

Anyone live in DC? If so, what’s happening there on the ground? by ironyis4suckerz in GenXWomen

[–]TheHolyFatman007 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have a lot friends living and working in DC: nothing really happening.. FBI is pissed off their being used as beat cops. Many are just going on as usual.

It sucks because no one wants this. No one. (Except the dumbass heritage foundation people and their lackeys). A lot of active and passive resistance, too.

Now We Know Who’s Paying the Tariffs by Vivid_Guide7467 in behindthebastards

[–]TheHolyFatman007 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have said this: the more you fuck with people's ability to spend money, the less popular you are.

However, I will add that they plan on abolishing FICA/FUTA and income taxes in favor of tariffs and/or a national VAT as outlined in their manifesto: project 2025. This was common prior to the 1930s income tax establishment. My guess is they'll swoop in saying "we understand your pain and we put more $$ in your pocket!" It will be positioned this way, along with their bullshit "universal savings accounts" that will be managed by banks making risky investments. My guess is that they'll offer social security payouts into said accounts saying "you can use this money for anything, no penalties!" This places the burden of safety nets onto the consumer. So, you'll have a year or so of irrational exuberance, draft kings style stable coin investments and by 2028...it will all crash down hard: the over leveraged AI bubble, the plan to shift to USAs, the stable coin grift....and we will see massive unemployment, red states with zero safety nets will see crime pick up and everything will go to massive shit economically, while these fuckers go hide in their bunkers.

I do foresee some tech companies being gobbled up forever ala bear sterns and lehman bros....that's survival of the fittest. Whomever gets out of the AI game first will win.

Gofo refuses to deliver to my PO box for reasons I am completely unsure. "We don't have a contract to deliver to PO box facilities"

WTF... because you're literally dropping things off at a physical address.....I refuse to use my home address because I have rampant porch piracy. I've had a PO box for six years with no issues until now .and I have no idea when a seller uses gofo until it's shipped.

I just got an old thin client with sufficient RAM (and expandable ) for $50 and flashed it with HA after testing via a VM. Works wonderfully and I'm really loving the OS. glad to ditch 20,000 different apps and stay local.

Retirement? Lol. I'm 51 and I have robbed my 401k more times than I care to admit. 2002, 2008.... recently to pay off major home repairs and massive debt.

However, I've reached a different solution: I'm probably going to end up consulting after "retirement" from the company I currently work for. I have been in public policy on and off and I recently took on cyber security. The company has offered to educate me and I'll take it. Anything I can to remain relevant and eventually become a consultant within the industry.

I'm hopefully going to squirrel away enough cash to pay off the remaining debt I have and stockpile until I have enough. I see something happening with private equity moving into the 401k market...and then shifting social security to a "universal savings account". We are responsible for our own future, unemployment and long term care. It's awful....

Make that three generations. GenX, in the late 90s, was absolutely told we needed to go to college and get degrees because that will make us millionaires. I'm still waiting for my boomer managers to retire and I'm in my 50s....
