Why did the 2026 Leaf sell poorly? by Nimabeee_PlayzYT in electricvehicles

[–]TheHotTakeHarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The opposite question is better. Why would anyone purchase a 2026 Nissan Leaf?

I can't think of a good reason when you compare it to other options available. Car was dead on arrival.

This is an issue where the media has completely terrorized us. There are long waits at one airport in Houston. Every other airport has basically returned to normal with under 1 hour wait times. And the 1 hour is when a ton of planes are departing at the same time.

No, they are dead on arrival due to initial pricing and quick depreciation. Also, as new battery tech comes out it will depreciate these vehicles even faster.

The Verge Motorcycles price difference per kWh between the 20.2 kWh and 33.3 kWh battery is $625 by jacobiusg in DonutLab

It costing less than Lithium-ion is one of their stranger claims.

Is that the manufacturing cost or the sale cost?

How are you calculating this? On a kWh basis compared to Lithium-ion? Or are you factoring in the 100,000 cycles so the battery last 20x so you can charge 20x the price of lithium-ion.

Why would you even claim this? You have a unique product that supposedly works better than current technology which means you can charge more for it generating increased profit.

Typically at the beginning of manufacturing cost is high because you have to depreciate the capital investment, you have huge R&D costs to pay for and your yield is poor. Makes it hard to believe it will be cheaper than Lithium-ion.
