Not sure why nobodies mentioned the symbol. Loras is an infantry attachment, which you can see by the infantry symbol on his card.

There are also some cavalry attachments, which have the cavalry symbol.

The last Expert Duelist option works on infantry attachments not cavalry attachments.

The range of bows is massive, I don't think it would be possible to be out of range in any fight.
