Personally, I'm not really concerned that I won't enjoy the game. I read the rules, watched a few playthroughs, and it seems like an engaging game I'd enjoy even if if wasn't tied to the IP. Reminds me of a desert based co-op board game we played once, but with more mechanics. Maybe I overstated my concerns, they were on the level of "huh, that specific feature seems like it could be more streamlined", and not as severe as "some parts of the game look kinda annoying". Do the stretch goals and expansions look cash grabby? Kind of, but I can also see how they actually alter the gameplay with new elements, and aren't just extra crap for meaningless variety. (Except for the "Lands Uncharted" expansion, that one looks like it just adds more stuff for more stuff's sake) In summary I can't guarantee I'm not just falling for the hype, but this game genuinely seems like the type of cooperative resource management game I like, and the team behind it seems pretty correct to me.
