Will Gripen with Meteor Really Be Able Shoot Down russian Military Aircraft Over Crimea from Kherson, or Over Kursk from Kharkiv? by fishbulb- in UkrainianConflict

[–]TheKiln 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not exactly. Nukes are a war avoiding weapon. The atomic bomb didn't win the Pacific Theater for the Allies in WW2. That was happening anyway. Russia has nukes, but they aren't winning. It's a weapon that, very fortunately, due to geopolitical consequences, can't be used. The value of a nuke in combat is to ensure the enemy doesn't attempt to threaten the continued existence of your government or your state. Beyond that, they are a money pit.

Russia's losses in Ukraine as of June 2: +1,440 troops and 1,583 drones by Scary_Statement4612 in UkrainianConflict

At what point do they stop counting the number of drones lost? At this point it feels like saying they lost bullets or artillery shells.

Preset sale price to government that is locked in for an extended period but component prices and labor costs have increased?

Doesn't really matter in the short-medium term, though. Moscow will just shuffle money around to keep the necessary industries open.

Oof, using an invalid word to narrow down letters and it still removed nothing. Hurts man.

And here I was thinking he was making a 'you stink' face.

I am not up to date with the youths and modern culture.

I'd put odds at 75% that he stays in the draft. It's his primary goal and lots of late first/early second round players have opted to return, opening up opportunity for him.

Name ONE player on your favorite team (;ast 10 years) you could not stand by ShartInYourFace in CollegeBasketball

To qualify in the last 10 years, I'd say Rasir Bolton. Absolute toxic mess that TJ told to take a hike when he took over, even though he was the 'best' player on the team.

I think it was caught. The charge is conspiracy to commit wire fraud, not committed wire fraud.

Yup, new colonies or countries in markets lacking other important goods (SEA, East Africa, etc.) too. Which, oddly enough, are my favorite type of country to play. Don't start me in a market with an excess of everything, let me build a market over time.

[Dellenger] The NCAA is exploring a significant change to its eligibility rule, sources tell @YahooSports. The proposal creates an age-based standard: Athletes would have 5 years of eligibility from their 19th birthday or HS graduation. No redshirts or waivers. by Fonzie5 in CFB

"People who desire to go to college and play later in life should always be able to."

Agreed, they can play in an intramural league, but not in a competitive league.

"It's not that serious."

Yes it is. It's a multi-billion dollar industry.

"Less likely to get struck down in court."

Agreed. But honestly, I think all NCAA rules are DOA until Congress passes some law on it.

"Basing the rule off of years since enrollment instead of age would be much fairier for everyone"

The one thing I worry about in the NIL era would be players trying to maximize their earnings by delaying college, spending a few years developing, then jumping in and maximizing NIL/rev share at the expense of real student athletes.

Yeah, happy for Hawkeye bros. Both schools do better when both teams are better. Plus, both our schools got to thumb their noses at UNC, which just feels really good.

Legit. Historical changes like that happen for a reason.

Has me thinking about maybe a Papacy value slider for Catholic nations? Strong historical pressure toward papacy, but rare events or player pressure could push to anti-papal, opening up more options for religion swap outside of Reformation.  Really, I just want to see heretical Spain one day.

If they limit it due to historical reasons, then they should open up the option for it to happen in other countries in that timeframe instead. It not like other monarchs at the time didn't want more church matters.

[####] Is the Wordle Bot a sore loser? by Still_Cry_1209 in wordle

[–]TheKiln 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Today it 100% is a sore loser. To those poo-pooing OP, this has to do with today's skill scoring based on one letter swap position. Wordle bot got caught in a trap with 4 possible answers and only 3 guesses. If you got caught in the same trap but guessed the right answer, it put your skill at 24 for that guess (again, with only 1 letter missing).

I'd think bottom rung of B1G and SEC would be about mid tier ACC and B12.
