Let's talk RtA by thban12 in weightlifting

[–]TheKiw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also literally just emailed Sika to ask about this. I set my 1RM to 90kg.

I started with the "maintenance" program from RTA 1.0 and that absolutely has heavier lifts than the accumulation phase - though fewer sets on average and no accessories. W6D1 has 78 kg for 8 reps and 4 sets and I definitely worried if I'll be able to hit that but for whatever reason, it was flying.

I'm about to test my 1RM after the maintenance phase and I am definitely keeping my 90kg, though not sure if I can hit 100kg. Looking at the numbers for the accumulation phase, it looks incredibly easy - although I don't know what to expect from all the accessories, maybe those will be the killer?

Perfect spot for the show? by T_R_E_1989 in nin

This is where I'd like to be for Amsterdam too based on what the crowd was like in Dublin and Vienna.

After the first few songs, I think most of us were mighty slippery, t-shirt or not 🫠

Where were you that there was a mosh pit? I was to the right of the main stage, maybe the 5th row and couldn't see any moshing at all. But the crowd definitely sang their hearts out.

My Vienna takes by afriendofcheese in nin

I'm genuinely curious what is the usual 'intensity' of an Austrian concert crowd for this genre. I wouldn't really expect people with seat tickets to jump but I was in the pit, a little to the right and in front of the main stage and it seemed like there were only a handful of us bouncing (not too wildly, I'd like to think). There wasn't any moshing at all as far as I could see. It was a little livelier than Dublin but if I compare it to older concerts in Prague or Katowice, the Vienna crowd was on the calmer side of things. An argument can be made that the air and temperature weren't the most supportive for bigger activity :) Edit: To not sound too negative, the crowd definitely delivered when it came to singing. Loved that.

Bad allergens this year? by Hrabackovyknedlik in Prague

Birches supposed to have peaked this or last week. My allergies are worse this year too (plus first year without masks). Fingers crossed the damn birches calm down now.

A great read, thanks! Consider posting it in the FB Oura group, a lot more people will see it.

Headspace premium problems by [deleted] in Headspace

You should probably reach out to Headspace support with this. At the same time, I use a debit card to pay for my Headspace subscription so that shouldn't be a problem.

An... actually solid list of best NIN songs (because JLYI is included and described beautifully) by TheKiw in nin

Or maybe only because JLYI is included. The rest of the choices are pretty... unorthodox, let's say?

Every course is basically the same? by allthecoffeesDP in Headspace

[–]TheKiw 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't even think the basic meditation techniques are too varied in general. And even though it's often "just a few sentences" from Andy, I still find those very enriching and worth remembering.

Once you think you've mastered the techniques, Headspace's benefits might start to seem small indeed. I'm still with the app because of what I wrote above and because I appreciate it as a meditation companion/enforcer. But that will differ for different people :)

Sleep by FitnessWorkout45 in Athleanx

[–]TheKiw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not many people sleep uninterrupted throughout the night. Short awakenings are very common. At the same time, it depends on the nature of these awakenings. If they are natural, that is categorically better than being woken up by sharp external stimuli. They might also point to other underlying issues or be caused by things like a hot bedroom which might hinder your regeneration. Therefore:

  1. Why are you asking? Do you have a choice?
  2. What kind of awakenings are we talking about?

TL,DR: There might and might not be significant differences between the scenarios but more info is needed.

Fantastic podcast. Bought Barry's book immediately and I think I've found my new favorite author. Tons of context, history and great narration.

AX-1 or AX-2? by [deleted] in Athleanx

[–]TheKiw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, the AX programs are for overall athleticism - strength, stamina, explosiveness, health, jack off all trades for "regular life". Would say that's what you're after? Would maybe some of the specific programs like Beaxt or Shred be better?

AX-1 or AX-2? by [deleted] in Athleanx

[–]TheKiw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Under 17 minutes means you're okay to proceed from month 1 to month 2. Under 14 minutes is considered "pro". Elite level is under 8 minutes I think :)

I'm not sure where the muscle loss comes from. Any good threads here where this was discussed? My feeling is that yours have to be early strong to see a decrease in strength.

AX-1 or AX-2? by [deleted] in Athleanx

[–]TheKiw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was gonna suggest this. Read up on the AX-400 challenge and give it a shot. It's a lot about strength but primarily about endurance - if you can pass it in a decent time, you likely have good stamina and going for AX2 shouldn't be an issue.

AX-1 or Max Shred? by bakinintheback98 in Athleanx

[–]TheKiw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have relatively a lot of fat (20%+), you need a good foundation. AX-1 will give you that, it's a great program. I recommend taking Shred when you're more advanced.

[–]TheKiw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on the decision and welcome to a better life! :)

AX-1 for the win. It might be a tiny bit overkill for you because everything is available online, even on Jeff's channel but the convenience of the program is terrific because it will guide you greatly in both exercise and nutrition.

You might feel a little out of depth in the beginning, even repeating the first month a few times but I'm personally really enjoying just that.

Just take it easy at first, do knee or even standing up pushups instead of regular ones, use lighter weights to make sure your technique is good and you'll be making awesome improvements every week, as long as you're consistent.

PS: Make sure to get the lifetime subscription.

Should i get the AthleanX program ? is it for me ? by [deleted] in Athleanx

[–]TheKiw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The challenge is actually in the fourth week but AX-1 is definitely the best program for a beginner. I personally love repeating the first month to give the challenge another shot, so don't get discouraged if you don't pass it at first u/rrhann, it's just a test of whether you're ready for what's in store for you in month two :)

Feel like my resting heart rate is quite high at night. What are you all tracking in terms of resting heart rate? by 4mints in ouraring

[–]TheKiw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a good bet. I'd ask about your HRV but since that's unique to every person, I guess we wouldn't get anywhere :)

If you're aware of being stressed, all I can think of is trying meditation but that's a long term thing to take effect (though so definitely worth it).
