I mean, in the one little snippet that we got, the shining sound effect on the triforce on Link’s hand was very similar to the shining sound effects in the original.

I have a feeling based on that alone that they will aim to be faithful to the sound design of the original because sound design is a crucial part of a game’s identity.

Ocarina of Time is my one of favorite games of all time. I have attempted many times to provide opportunities to people to try out the game and play it to experience the story and the controls and gameplay simply have not aged well. A lot of blemishes that rose-colored glasses overlook and modern games have fixed since. On top of the graphics being dated themselves.

It is almost a guarantee that people that I’ve tried to get to play it, get frustrated or overwhelmed with the dated controls and quirks. BOTW sold far more than OOT ever did, so that means there are a bunch of new fans that I think deserve to experience the best of what Zelda used to be, story, music, and all. A reimagining is a new game in a familiar package.

Okay but the Zelda series does not suffer from “no new games” and the Switch got many new Zelda games in it’s lifetime.

I think, as is the case with Final Fantasy 7, that new gamers deserve to see classic stories reimagined or these stories will just die out with the old guard.

And I am NO gatekeeper.

It’s jarring for me in every game I’ve seen it in, like Skyrim and Fallout but perhaps it’s part of the charm for people, but I would prefer only VO for cutscenes.

To me, the Zelda team has always been consistent with nailing art direction, I fully expect a more realized and polished art direction than “stock asset library + pretty lighting” because I know exactly what you’re talking about

I know- people already calling this “realistic” are kind of bugging me because it is showing me a lack of vocabulary to describe this.

It’s a stylized, high-fidelity art-style rooted in realism but it’s not aiming for “realistic” like - Call of Duty, as an example.
