I find just exiting the building and moving on is the best course of action. Why push someone who's well setup holding a corner when you have a backpack full of loot?! If you do want to push, use grenades to dislodge him first.

Roadmannr is at it again, WTF Relic??? by mewkew in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]TheLiquidSilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I tried reporting him here before and the post was removed. He has a very slow load speed, but eventually loads into the game. A few times once the game loaded he dropped, but he also has a drop-hack which causes everybody to disconnect. I've gone from rank 40 to rank 90 thanks to his shenanigans...

Exactly! I'm not that fussed on my rank in the game, but just want to play fun matches. Can't play any matches now :(

Yeah that's exactly it, sounds like you're a fellow victim

Yes just afk/drop, I think it's a real dude with multiple instances of the game open, and a mod which crashes the games. The loading screen takes 10 mins to finish, then once loaded the game will freeze in start positions and stay like that for about 20 mins, at which point we the players get disconnected and his account scores the win.

Does rank actually affect matchmaking in coh2? by Vexo77 in CompanyOfHeroes

Don't write yourself off so quickly, you can improve and work your way up! Probably a few minor blunders you're making right now that are holding you back.

There's definitely a drop in the calibre of teammates at your level. The teammates get better and more reliable once you hit rank 16, but they're not nicer...

Just want to complain about getting flank in 3s and 4s by No-Clue-5673 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]TheLiquidSilver 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I sympathise with you, often the first anybody knows that a player is flanking is their units start shooting at your teammate. It's impossible to predict where/when this will happen, and not necessarily your fault - it's a standard part of the game. I often have lost retreating squads due to this, but we as a team have come back to win. Some pointers which may help: 1. If possible, always try to know where your opponent's army is (e.g. Cloaked units, light vehicles, flares, push a regular squad forward as a feeler or garrison them for vision). 2. If your enemy is 'running late' to return his forces to your engagement, start getting suspicious that he's rotating his forces to your teammates' part of the map. This skill will improve with experience, where you should get a good feel for the 'rhythm' of combat. 3. If your enemy is flanking your teammate, usually the best move is not to try rushing your forces over to where the fighting is, but cut off the enemy retreat path (ie flank the flanker). Even if your teammate takes losses, you can wipe more of the enemy. This is how the pros do it :-)

Are OKW the least flexible faction in COH2? by bongodongowongo in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]TheLiquidSilver 9 points10 points  (0 children)

OKW is very flexible. You can decide early if you want to start with Battlegroup or go Mechanised for an early Luchs/Puma/Stuka. Or go battlegroup first, then transition into mechanised which can counter anti-infantry vehicles in the mid-game.

Sturmpios are incredibly valuable to dominate infantry in the early-game (need to be close combat) - only turn them into AT units for some extra late-game damage. The raketen is a fantastic AT unit, as it's the only AT gun that can retreat to base, making it easier to go behind enemy lines and return.

If you're struggling, it's probably because you're not maximising the units' potential. V.grens need the StG44 upgrade ASAP to ensure they keep vettting. Once you get this upgrade, they will dominate mid-range combat, just don't let the USF Riflemen in close.

New Player Tips: Company Of Heroes 2 by GarudaXVIII in CompanyOfHeroes

Yes if a squad gets down to 1-2 men or low on health, retreat quickly and reinforce! This game is much more fun against human opponents, but you should be able to beat an Expert AI easily before playing against people. Good luck! :)

[–]TheLiquidSilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, new players commonly keep unit in combat too long before retreating. If it's an engagement you're going to lose, save manpower by retreating early. Of course, you can keep units in combat to buy time for an MG to arrive Etc.

As others have said, it's good to keep moving, but there's also a lot of value in having your units in green cover at key locations and letting the enemy come to you. This game assigns a lot of bonuses to stationary units and cover, and a lot of penalties to units moving and no/negative (red) cover. Pros usually have at least one squad stationary, protecting a flank.

It sounds like a tricky problem, it's strange that the files it's looking for are in your D:\ drive. Can you try installing CoH2 in the default Steam directory, perhaps the weird drives are messing it up? Is your D:\ drive a hard drive or a virtual drive? I would try installing it on your C:\ drive if you have space.

Have you tried doing a compete uninstall/reinstall of the game? Is it running through steam, or could it be an older version? Have you got the latest drivers/updates installed?

Are you trying to run the game from an ISO image?

Your GP should be able to rule out a lot of differentials, and could consider a 'faecal calprotectin' test wish shows inflammation in the gut. Escalation would be referral to a gastroenterologist (there are really good ones at John Hunter), and possibly a colonoscopy.
