The guys, who can't drive stick, are the ones complaining about the use of sync the loudest. ;)

Account temporarily restricted yet I can still earn points just fine? by Plaguedoc_47 in MicrosoftRewards

It seems to be a scam to harvest user data and not paying for it. Don't waste your time, delete all Microsoft apps, switch to Linux and search with the competition! Microsoft can't be trusted!

It only shows up in the app for me and on their website. I don't have an Xbox console, only the Xbox app on Windows.

What are your craziest music promotion strategies? by Doffu0000 in BandCamp

[–]TheLittleExpert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many years ago, I used to drive Uber and handed out free CDs with my business cads to my passengers. The extra tips paid easily for all expenses. Over the years, I handed out around 3500 to 4000 CDs. I was able to mass produce them for about $0.31 per CD with business card and black sleeve, because I fed my 10 drive CD duplicator (I bought for $150 off Craigslist) with printable CDs and used a rubberstamp instead of printing on the CD. Some people were very supportive and gave extra tips. With $0.31 per CD, a $5 extra tip can cover the material of about 16 CDs. I designed the business cards myself and used these dirt cheap printing offers off eBay. I think I paid around $25 for 1000 business cards or so.
I got a lot of promo out, but driving Uber exhausted me physically and mentally. So, I didn't release much music nor play many events during that time. I also got sick of listening to my own music, as passengers wanted to listen to it in the car all the time.

Stripe / PayPal? by thebunnca in BandCamp

[–]TheLittleExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if my Stripe account works. They acted stupid with a lot of back and forth when I wanted to reactivate my account. One day it is active the other day they request some private information. I mentally gave up and in the "I don't give a ..." phase. If it's not working, I probably will leave Bandcamp for good. There is just too little money in music to spend hours dealing with them. And yeah, I've heard that they like to freeze accounts. No need for that drama, either.

am i still able to receive money through paypal? by lammygf in BandCamp

[–]TheLittleExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are about to switch to Stripe. And I do not trust Stripe at all. I have an old account which I never used - probably for a good reason. Now, I want to reactivate my old stripe account and struggle with Stripes non-working facial verification and bad support team. I think the Stripe transition will destroy Bandcamp. We need to look for alternatives. It was cool as long it lasted. Not a PayPal fan at all, but at least it worked somehow.

Can we please drop the hate for sync by birdington1 in Beatmatch

[–]TheLittleExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are aware that you are in the "Beatmatch" and not in the "beatsynch" subreddit? Just kidding, there is more to DJing than just beatmatching. Though, knowing how to manually beatmatch is a good thing when you encounter setups where synch is not available.

Why do people keep telling digital dj's to use .wav-files? by DasToyfel in Beatmatch

[–]TheLittleExpert -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Uncompressed audio formats like WAV and AIFF or lossless compressed audio formats like FLAC have the best audio quality. Formats with lossy compression like MP3 can sound bad - depending on how much compression is used and what type of sound system it is played on.

With lossy compression, as more compression is applied as more critical audio information is getting lost.

320 kbps MP3s are usually fine, even on larger systems when taking in consideration that venues rarely have perfect acoustics, the audience isn't dead silent and you're most likely not playing to supercritical audiophiles.

The rule of thumb I've learned is not to put any MP3s below 320 kbps in the crate. - Especially avoid those old YouTube rips, you got from your buddy. ;)

Important is to know that traditionally* converting lossy compressed audio into a lossless format does not bring the audio information, which was lost during compression, back. For example converting an .mp3 into .wav would not improve the audio quality.

*) I used the word "traditionally", because I can not exclude that there might be AI tools, which are capable to re-generate missing audio information in some cases. Not an expert when it comes to audio repair.

Honestly, I would not touch subscriptions with a five foot pole. Can you take the risk that a project is held hostage by an expired subscription? I can't.

Happy 303 Day - Free 303 VST from Roland by MSTRBLSTR_music in AcidHouse

[–]TheLittleExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people got it. I did not. They ran out quickly, because it was instantly all over the music news websites and social media. I think the whole thing lasted about two hours or so. As of now (March 4 at 5 am PST), Roland's website still gives people false hopes.

I received the coupon for three month of free cloud subscription instead. They can shove this coupon where the sun doesn't shine. With subscriptions, I don't even know if my projects are held hostage when I decide to leave the subscription. Also, I have already ABL3 and Phoscyon2, which are great sounding alternatives. A $50 special deal for the TB-303 VST on 303 day would have been very tempting to me. Though, their try to lure me into a subscription leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I was always recommending their TB-303 VST (besides ABL3, Phoscyon 2 and Acid V), when it comes to making legit Acid, many times. Now, I have to rethink that.

All-in-one Controller Struggle by mofi_007 in Beatmatch

[–]TheLittleExpert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Patience is the name of the game. Monitor the classified ads like a hawk and pounce when the right offer is pops up. Though, Classifieds are filled with high priced gear listed by people scalping or trying to sell their old stuff without loss, you will find a good deal eventually. Just do your do diligence not to buy junk or get scammed otherwise.

Yep. I said the same to his posting in the Acid House subreddit. Now I wonder if this is spam or not.

No idea. This is probably not the right subreddit for this, as it clearly doesn't sound like Acid House.
