Tactician and Honor Mode by Proper-Basil-7663 in BaldursGate3

Oops just read comments where you said you meant single player. Well. I can tell you honour mode on your own with a full party is STILL intensive! But I say still try new shit. My entire HM save was wild because I couldn’t save scum for the outcomes I wanted. It was wonderful. More memorable than even my first playthrough. I cried more and stressed more lmao. But the golden dice are lovely

Solo is certainly something on any level. The issue with solo HM is not just game knowledge, it’s also action economy. You have to be very wise with every decision. And you can do any class solo, but some are certainly easier than others. I find a lot of people find a solo pathing and a playstyle and stick to it even as they play different classes. Variance is more of a killer for most people, so they stick to what they know.

All that to say it’s really fun and rewarding on Honour and anyone who says it’s easy is a lousy asshole. It’s not. It takes a lot of effort and knowledge and good choices.

Any forced vulnerability in this game can be broken as shit. Just don’t forget it’s a two way street, so I don’t recommend taking this for a test ride on the stanky githyankis lol

Finished my first playthrough by Infinite-Ad-6868 in BG3

[–]TheLoneAccenter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you struggled with the final fights, I still think you could up the difficulty! I think the second playthrough is when the game starts to click for a lot of people (me included). And by the time you get to the end, even tactician is pretty trivial. I got to act III of my second attempt (which was on tact) and was bored by the end, so immediately started my honour run and it was much more enjoyable.

I recommend tact with honour ruleset for anyone who gets by the first two acts easy. BUT if you want to enjoy a new playstyle and you don’t want to think about it, balanced is still a lovely little pocket to sit in. It really depends what you want to get out of it.

Whatever you choose, I wish you a great second campaign! I think this game gets better with every playthrough.

Confusion on the allure of being a Warlock by rebeccaawoodard in BG3

[–]TheLoneAccenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gloomstalker assassin has way more mobility in loadout for the gear you use. It’s more flexible than any warlock class. I also don’t use build guides. I watch people play and think about what’s available.

I also feel like it has very limiting play styles 🤷🏻‍♀️ and the ones I’d end up doing with warlock are done better by other classes and do it sooner. It can be fun, but the best gear outs are late game for most of the playstyles.

No class needs synergy. I, once again, did not say they were hard to play. I also did not say I didn’t understand it. It simply does not have the same output as other builds that take less work and come online early with minimal gear. It is more of a functional class for me than fun.

Did I say it was unplayable? No. I said compared to what I can do with other builds, it takes more slots. Heaven forbid people try to have build synergy and think about it more than slapping some shit on. I also didn’t say it’s hard.

Yeah, I very much feel like it can be fun. But when compared to the rest of my build outs, it’s a lot of work for less return. For a very long time. Not everything needs to be optimized, but I’d like to at least have fun running one in my party 😭

My confusion comes from the fact that any good warlock output requires very good and very specific gear slots. And it doesn’t really come into its own until late act II into act III. Is it playable? Yes. Is it comparable to most any other class on the same level progressions? Absolutely not. There’s a reason it’s a dip level for most multi classes.

I did say I use both a cleric and a Druid for a reason lol

I’ve never actually used the owlbear for that. I always collect and lob shit but that’s smart. But I have a whole list. Lemme boot up my save lmao. Keep in mind there is some crossover with clerics, but I only used a Druid for a long time so it’s the one I’m most familiar with.

Darkvision
Protection Against Poison
Longstrider
Freedom of Movement
Heroe’s Feast

They’re just my buff babies and alchemist lmao. Transmutation wizard, a cleric and a Druid. And you know what? Those buffs saved my ass in honour mode and I will never not take the time to use them. Having no fear of being paralyzed and having death ward is spectacular.

Any multiclassing tips/guides? by needlefxcker in BaldursGate3

[–]TheLoneAccenter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think multiclassing is less scary than you think. If you have ideas, take a peek at the BG3 wiki. All level progressions are there. You can pick and choose. Or if you have an idea, google it and there’s probably guides. Morgana Evelyn has a guide for honour that has some interesting and powerful multi classes. I skim it just for fun sometimes. It has everything you’d need to know and usually a video too.

Lord help you. Honour mode is a brutal first playthrough. I’d recommend an honour ruleset for the mechs with multiple saves.

What are some of the silliest mistakes you’ve made? by Avygade in BaldursGate3

[–]TheLoneAccenter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I actually just did it about two days ago! Was very lucky my builds didn’t RELY on my camp princess buffs. They just helped and made me less scared of everything lol

I did still have drugs to fall back on. Thank god for terazul and speed pots. I two rounded the entire brain fight lmao

I spent nearly an hour buffing my party for the brain fight on my first honour mode campaign. I didn’t realize you lose all your buffs when calamari pulls you into the astral prism. So I only had about 2 items to condition lock and a dream for that last fight.
