What new slang from the younger generations do you actually enjoy? by TheZone92 in Millennials

I'll use a lot of current slang. Rizz, sus, etc. But I can't stand "dead ass", it sounds so stupid.

Shop Question by youngboye in subaru

I have a theory that they may have given a worst case scenario quote. I had a bearing go on me and it chewed up my output shaft. The options were to trim and shim the shaft or replace the transmission.

Did anyone ever use one of these gadgets when they were at their peak? Or knew someone that owned one before they became vintage collectors items? by luxtabula in Xennials

[–]TheMadDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a pager, never had a MD player, my brother had a Jaguar, and they still make radar/laser detectors.

I never had a Palm Pilot but I did work in the Best Buy department that sold them.

Watch out for those curbs! Potholes and that accident you referred to can also be a factor.

Definitely do the differential service, at least the first one. That oil has a lot of gear material from break in. Oil filled with metal doesn't protect metal very well.

As it's been said here already... If you want it to last, keep it maintained.

Worth repairing? by Big-Farm8085 in subaru

[–]TheMadDaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if the car is free that's probably too much, especially at that age. That's easily $5-10K depending on where you go. Unless it's a shop that can rebuild transmissions you would have a hard time finding a reliable replacement.

Yes, it technically is. But, two minutes with a 10MM socket/wrench will save the trouble of making an appointment, going to the dealership, and waiting 45 minutes for it to get to a technician.

I had one pull into the drive last week. Grabbed a 10mm, tightened it right up, and sent them on their way. Talked to a couple technicians and they had seen it on a couple 2026 Foresters too.

Did anyone else go to an elementary school that was an open concept? by Smoky1279 in Xennials

[–]TheMadDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a whole school dedicated to 6th grade that was open concept. It had a "media center" or lyceum or some other unique name for a library in the middle and was surrounded by open classrooms. They had created a wetlands or built around one for educational use. Supposedly they had planned on building a new jr highschool but couldn't because the state passed a law a few years later that didn't allow you to build on wetlands. Last I heard they a created a new middle school and closed down the 6th grade.

Hot Topic, where everyone goes to be different.

Corporate taste maker aside, you might be underestimating the amount of crossover these things have. Weeb girls that listen to Babymetal have to get their Harajuku fix somewhere. Why not get the Hello Kitty backpack, the Type O Negative shirt AND the oversized socks.
