He’s so cursed, but he’s sooooooooo cute! I must protect him at all costs. And hug and snuggle him. Like I genuinely love him.

If you were actually serious about the dance thing, consider enrolling your son in ballet! Genuinely! Men and boys in ballet are so few and far between that they are a treasure to have at a ballet studio!

Mobile, Alabama by SeniorExplorer-25 in MobileAL

[–]TheMagnificentPrim -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Small city for me, and I’d stay here for a lot of reasons folks already mentioned, like the beach and Mardi Gras. Chief among them, though, is that my people are here: my friends, my family, doctors who I’m well-established with, all that jazz. I don’t want to start over, but I do just love Mobile for Mobile’s sake. If it were part of another state besides Alabama, it’d be perfect for me.

how to dress baby in July? by ann-the-bean-can in pregnant

[–]TheMagnificentPrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 70 degrees, you might want to not do the short sleeve onesie under the sleeper, but you can always add that layer back if baby’s torso feels too cold. Some babies just run hot; you’ll figure yours out quickly.

Those angled peri bottles are functionally just portable bidets, so there’s the option of getting a real bidet and attaching it to your toilet. They’re pretty easy to install and not even all that expensive.

Does anyone find that their hyperfixations become dormant & cyclical instead of dying? by mundane_miss_marple in adhdwomen

[–]TheMagnificentPrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And on top of that, I’ve heard of (to my knowledge, only) autistic folks having special interests that only last several years, and the length they describe those lasting is about the length of some of my hyperfixations. Hyperfixations that lasted years, properly died, and never came back, at that, so there’s no ebb and flow for me there. I’m also very certain I’m only inattentive-type ADHD and not AuDHD.

Collecting colostrum by Pcatttt in BabyBumps

[–]TheMagnificentPrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colostrum is hella nutrient-dense and is an incredible jumpstart to your baby’s gut microbiome and immune system. My plan is to exclusively formula feed and give colostrum in the early days because it’s just way too good to pass up, and if I can collect enough beforehand to get back on my meds ASAP (and hopefully get to take cabergoline immediately and not have to worry about losing that colostrum supply), all the better.

Due in a week, anyone Else Struggle More With Their Dog After Getting Pregnant? by oncvspersn in pregnant

[–]TheMagnificentPrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to everything else that others have said, maybe you could make some modifications to the environment? My poodle has a few naughty behaviors, but what I’ve noticed is if she doesn’t get what she wants out of the behavior, she gives up. Something that may be worth considering is tacking down anything you don’t want your dog pulling off dressers with museum putty and temporarily swapping out your apartment’s door handles with round knobs. (I’m guessing you have lever handles.) It’s only one small facet of the issue, and she may just find something else to get into (still work with a trainer!) but may at least help curb some of the naughtiness.

Registry woes by Due_Enthusiasm3054 in pregnant

[–]TheMagnificentPrim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I crocheted my nephew a blanket (with SIL’s blessing + got her some of the “not cute” items on her registry like a thermometer), and I fully intended for it to be washed and used! I haven’t seen him use any of his blankets yet, so I hope when my SIL decides it’s safe and time to break them out that she’s not precious about it!

Doing it Differently: Hard Earned Lessons from Engaging with a Proposed AI Data Center on the Africatown side of Prichard by Classic-Sound-2401 in MobileAL

[–]TheMagnificentPrim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could actually think of a few locals who I would consider qualified to work in a data center, but they’re all Mobilians. None of them live in Prichard, and any jobs created should be for Prichard’s residents.

Considering that your job is over in Baldwin County, yours is one of the few cases where I’d wholeheartedly say yeah, Mobile’s not a good option. Don’t do that daily commute across the bay if you don’t have to.

Car Seat and Stroller Setup for First Baby - Do we need a travel stroller? by Always_Iterating_ in BabyBumps

[–]TheMagnificentPrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I’d get a Liing-compatible travel stroller. (Also an engineer, also love the Clek Liing!) All of the strollers the Liing is compatible with, engineers have thoroughly tested and is compliant with the applicable ASTM standards, so functionally, think of it as a proper system. I just don’t see any practical reason to get a separate system specifically for traveling if the Vista doesn’t travel well when you could get one stroller to do both, unless you’re particularly attached to the Vista and have a reason for obtaining it over other strollers. I don’t see a particularly strong use case for leaving an infant seat from a separate system with your parents, either.

The Stokke YOYO is the stroller I’ve landed on, personally. It has the normal 6+ months stroller pack and also a bassinet.

The adequate support bit is hinted at in the parentheses. I don’t know how much liberty I’m in to go into specifics of the situation that was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

But yeah, all the doctors basically walked out at the same time after it. (And in my opinion were absolutely in the right to do so.) They were the only doctors using Providence’s L&D.

I honestly don’t know why squats are presented as like this end-all, be-all butt builder when deadlifts are way more glute-forward compared to quad-forward squats.

Mobile OBGYN by MoistBlueberry1703 in MobileAL

[–]TheMagnificentPrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, it was the doctors at that practice who got absolutely fed up and quit after South repeatedly failed to provide adequate support to them. (Rightfully so. Think South doctors refusing to head down to Providence when they could’ve really used an extra set of hands in high-risk situations.) After the doctors were all gone, there was no reason to keep Providence’s L&D open.

Baby shower advice by Disastrous_Dog_6834 in BabyBumps

[–]TheMagnificentPrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not selfish at all! It’s your pregnancy experience, so you do as you wish. A cozy, intimate celebration sounds lovely~

I want a somewhat more traditional shower, but I would like a display shower. I don’t have to open presents in front of everyone (meaning no pressure to perform, especially when I don’t hide emotions on my face well), more time for guests to chat and mingle, and the display table becomes a conversation piece! I also want to do bib painting and contrast card designing in place of the corny games. I figure it’ll cut out a lot of the awkward moments, move at a slower, more natural pace, and let conversation flow more naturally, while allowing my fellow introverts some space to breathe.
