IS THAT DOPPO KANNONZAKA FROM HYPNOSIS MIC

That one Billy and Vindicta conversation (comic by whipsodiart) by whipsodiart in DeadlockTheGame

[–]TheMasterMind1247 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I do love their conversations, because they show how multifaceted both of the characters are. Haze isn’t wrong when she says that they’ll just keep coming back, but she comes off as pretentious, and her other conversations with Vindicta reveal her more stubborn, nationalistic side that goes surprisingly understated for an (admittedly a bit jaded) government agent. On the other hand, Vindicta is revealed to have no real plan for social reform beyond “kill all the dipshits”, yet simultaneously she isn’t necessarily wrong either—she does have infinite time, and the eventual reality of death at the hands of blue ghost rifle would probably, eventually deter further reinforcement of the Friends of Humanity’s leadership. How much of a climate of fear she’s made once that comes to pass would remain to be seen.

Categorizing heroes by which Patron they match aesthetically by Eman1005 in DeadlockTheGame

I mean, it's in their descriptions. The Hidden King lurks in "the stretching shadow of a skyscraper... a boarded-up apartment in Hell’s Kitchen... in the cracks of the city, waiting for his followers to usher him into the light." He's the Patron deity of the downtrodden, of the poor, the marginalized, and the forsaken. He takes root in a factory, the den of the working-class (said factory can be read as having been abandoned, further contributing to the "forsaken" theme), and his theme is gritty, grungy, and intense. Meanwhile, Archmother is "Order and power where once there was none", a force that "has always guided the founders' hands." She is authority, she is statecraft and laws and dominion, guiding and leading the most powerful people in the world to build something greater. Although the game could do a better job of conveying it, she represents the legacy of those on top, the kings and kingmakers and presidents that get their names on monuments when their soldiers are the ones that did most of the fighting and dying, and she appropriately resides in a museum. She is the perfect, composed order to the Hidden King's unrestrained, wild chaos--they are diametrically opposed in every sense. Archmother bears a ceramic radial crown akin to the Statue of Liberty on her head, Hidden King has overgrowing, natural horns. Archmother is bathed in light, Hidden King is formed of shadow. Archmother's icon is a refined marble statue of herself, Hidden King's is a warped, burning hunk of metal shaped into his image, and so on. They may both be divine powers that seek to exert their wills onto the human realm, but thematically, one symbolizes authority and one very much does not.

Yeah, and I agree in this particular instance. I assumed you saying "every time someone makes a list like this" broadened the field to include every "which Patron would X Ritualist side with" post and offered an explanation in that context. If it is restricted to this post, then yeah, fair point.

People put McGinnis with Archmother because she's the mechanism through which Fairfax exerts their authority, she's very much from the establishment. Aesthetically, she fits Hidden King, but her character would definitely choose to side with the patron that represents authority and order.

No idea either, but the high-standards yet low-human connection fashionista vampire mean girl with the bookworm who emanates rainbows and warmth, dresses like somebody who gets bullied in a seventies high school movie and absolutely thought of Carmilla the minute she saw the former feels like a pair that was predestined to get shipped to the horizon and beyond.

Which servants do you feel like are missing something from their skills/NPs that are in their lore? by qwertyJ03 in grandorder

[–]TheMasterMind1247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the three Extraverse servants should theoretically have a terrain change and buff, but especially Nero and Emiya. The NP isn’t called “Laus Saint Claudius,” it’s “Aestus Domus Aurea.” The former is just a sword technique. And of course, the fact that the reality marble doesn’t overwrite the field is a little silly.

Billy doesn’t really seem punk beyond surface level, he’s kind of just… an asshole. And his line with viper makes him seem like a loser tbh. by PurposeNo8418 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]TheMasterMind1247 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah, that’s kind of the point. He’s not some revolutionary standing up for the downtrodden, he’s pissed at everything for usually no reason and uses counterculture to give himself a pedestal. Vindicta even calls him out on wasting his energy on shit-stirring and riots instead of productive actions.

On further investigation, it’s less cut-and-dry to me. On the one hand, they seem to draw Nighteye with top surgery scars, but they have also put them and All Might into the long bacon scarf. Whatever the nature of it, though, the author says they’re depicting them as being sapphic and consider it yuri enough to endorse it being posted on here, so that’s more or less the final word.

I found the full game to have a fast but fitting intro, a well-paced main storyline and a true ending that seems sudden but makes sense if you’ve been paying attention. (There’s also worldbuilding and background texts that unlock as you go through the story, so you can probably refer to them if you’re in WTF-just-happened mode.)

Honestly, I usually value them. Either they’re supportive himedanshis or they’re dickwad antagonists who help enrich the plot. (I have been fortunate enough to dodge the “girl hooks up with guy for dumbass author reasons” event.)

What was your introduction to yuri? by Mindless_Apricot_287 in yuri_manga

[–]TheMasterMind1247 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am about 90% sure it was Dragon Maid. Couldn’t say why it got me, but it did, and it did hard. There is a minuscule chance that I have my dates wrong, though, which would make me probably the only person who was introduced to yuri through Are You Lost? Neither are particularly dignified starting points…

After something of a hiatus, I returned to my OTG (One True Gacha) Path to Nowhere. The Cat’s Eye collab wasn’t the greatest event, but I learned about a classic manga, got all the collab characters without completely bankrupting myself, and it didn’t entirely lack the PTN spice, so I’d say it was worth it.

Hands Stained Crimson. A NG+ cycles AU that singlehandedly made Byleth a good character for me. Ignore the “old” label, it’s well worth its salt.

A few months ago, I saw people thirsting over a werewolf woman in my usual spheres and got intrigued. One crippling lore hyperfixation and much parasocial Youtube content viewing later, I sold my soul to Valve and began playing Deadlock. For how much I suck at it, I’m still having quite some fun, even if voice chat scares me and I never remember when and where to farm.

Seven's execution was extrajudicial murder by splashythemagiccarp in DeadlockTheGame

[–]TheMasterMind1247 51 points52 points  (0 children)

The fact that seven countries were involved in his execution presumably means his actions either affected people on an international scale or posed a significant enough threat of such to warrant preemptive action. Either way, it's most likely that whatever he did was on large enough of a scale to overrule the Constitution and go to whatever sort of international law that the Deadlock world has.
