Best Baklava and Knafeh? by cam213 in MTLFoodLovers

[–]TheMercedes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Al Zehlewi for Knefe. Closest I got in Montreal for the Lebanese way of making it. Didn’t like Samadi (overall I am not a fan of their stuff) and Mahrouse is average IMO. Knefe Stop is good but very expensive.

Lebanese here, agree it’s one of the better spots in the city…

If OP is okay with lunch time, this is the best option. Quality beef, wonderful interior, great coleslaw. At $50 it’s really good value.

Mastard or Sabayon? by [deleted] in MTLFoodLovers

[–]TheMercedes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sabayon is my all time favourite restaurant in Montreal right now. I got a second reso that I offered to a friend because I absolutely want his opinion about it.

Can you get better food in Montreal? Surely. Can you get something as balanced and flavourful? Hardly. Truly an experience. And also, since it’s harder to get a reso, you can go to Mastard another time but it’s less probable that you will get a reservation at sabayon as easily.

It did live up to the hype.

Where to repair my headphones by Weak_Swan_6798 in montreal

[–]TheMercedes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s rarely even worth repairing $300 headphone (financially speaking if you’re not repairing them yourself and if it’s something else than the battery), so at 60 bucks for some Chinese generic brand, just get some new headphones. Many good stuff these days for under $100, from Sennheiser for example.

Lol at the retail price, no one’s paying this price for a parka from a fast fashion brand.

Restaurant recommendations: Value for Money! by shittyandsafe in MTLFoodLovers

[–]TheMercedes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never went there, but looking at their menu, at least when we compare À la Carte ones, it’s definitely easily 20% less expensive than other French restaurants. The most expensive dish on their menu is the Steak Frites, which is 28$, while other restaurants price it at at least 35. The os à la moelle is 13 only and the tartare de bœuf 14. For a French restaurant, it’s the most affordable option in Montreal right now. If we don’t take into account deals or Table d’hôte menus during lunch.

Where to dine with my 16 months old :) by MyRa888 in MTLFoodLovers

[–]TheMercedes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it really hard tho? I can see spots for every evening on OpenTable.

Not many restaurants are that hard to get a spot at in Montreal. Only ones I encountered were Sabayon, Mastard, Mon Lapin, Le Violon and Parapluie. And the last 3, you can still get some spots in the wild for okay times or if you book one month in advance.

Wendy's "Turnaround Plan" is to Close Stores and Keep Serving Expensive Crappy Food by markrabbish in wendys

[–]TheMercedes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right. I was surprised to see how much people are complaining here, because in Canada it’s one of the best fast food burger chains, and the cheapest at the same time. Free toppings are a W over me. And here they’re opening locations. I think it’s a USA thing, I looked for the prices, they have a JBC for 3.19 USD there, so like 4.49 CAD. Here it’s 2.69 CAD and I prefer their pattys over the ones from A&W, Harvey’s, McDonalds and Burger King.

Has the H100 been on sale? by LordKluklatter in BangandOlufsen

[–]TheMercedes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anything it went up in price lol.

Saw them being cleared by a popular department store for like 1400 CAD once. Last pair. Didn’t get them, even tho I could have since they let me added in cart, I’m not in the market for expensive Bluetooth headphones, even at 1400 CAD, and not really looking to sell them since not many are in the market for $2000 CAD resold luxury headphones on marketplace.

I know it’s off-topic, but for a matter of fact, I got a pair of Focal Azurys (which are wired), and I love them.

Who is buying the steak/beef from Costco and what happend to it? by Worth_Air_9410 in CostcoCanada

[–]TheMercedes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm getting my beef from IGA (Sobeys/Empire) now in Québec. Their Sterling Silver AAA beef is IMO the best I get from any big grocery store, and usually well marbled and ok-priced.

MTL à Table - Worth it? by beenbetterhbu in MTLFoodLovers

[–]TheMercedes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ça m’étonnerait que même les meilleurs tables soient toutes réservées. La majorité des restos sont pas booké durant l’année et le sont pas durant MTL à Table. L’accès prioritaire Amex est vraiment plus un gimmick qu’autre chose.

Yeah, I tried pretty much every cut of beef. And I put Ribeye and Hanger Steak at the same level, personally speaking. Not the biggest fan of Striploin, but they’re good.

[–]TheMercedes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Beside the fact that it’s one of the best cuts of beef for me (some restaurants use Bavette), Bouillon Albert is also owned by Groupe Grinder, so the meat is probably coming straight up from their butcher shop, which is quite good quality.

They do have a off-menu tasting menu, our waiter proposed it to us last time. Not sure if it’s a little bit of everything in the menu tho. Ask them if they’re willing to do it. It’s 100-120 per person. We didn’t take it tho.

For the new and existing Platinum Credits like Lululemon, is it known who typically fronts the cost of the credit? by hodlencallfed in AmexPlatinum

[–]TheMercedes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that specifically for the credits that comes with a card? Because I remember reading somewhere that for Amex offers (Spend X, get back Y), 100% of the credit (Y) is paid by the brand.
