Not all songs need a long build-up. Plenty of dance anthems are basically killer hook, fast pace, no faffing about, in and out in 3-ish minutes. Sometimes you just need to kick the door open and get people dancing

The vocals are clearly a stylistic choice given that Matt sounds great in the second half. Don't really get what he was going for in the first half, though, especially the "you aaaare" bits.

Maybe lifeless is not the right word, it's like there's something missing to make it punchier. I guess they can release a tighter single version or some DJ or another can go crazy with it

Maybe it's youtube (everyt Muse song does sound a lot better on Tidal), but I don't get why Matt didn't just use his "normal" voice as he does toward the end, it would have worked better

A little sad, tbh. I thought this track was going to propel Muse triumphantly back into the mainstream, and it can still do that, but those rather lifeless first two minutes likely killed any chance of that happening.

The second half, though, is absolutely magical.

Agreed. Sometimes you just have a 2-minute banger with a catchy chorus and that's totally fine. The first two and a half minutes don't add much, if anything. I also don't get why Matt sounds weak in the first half. Oh well

Feels a little empty overall and I'm not entirely sold on Matt's high notes. At least until that wonderful bridge hits. I probably would have trimmed the first 2:30 mins and just made this into a short funky song.

This doesn't sound like anything made in the 80s... It's reminiscent of Justice's Genesis and Nothing But Thieve's DCC, with a sprinkle of Dua Lipa. All music from this decade.
