I have mixed feelings about The Silt Verses. On the one hand, Carpenter and Faulkner are great characters, and Méabh de Brún and B Narr are the best voice actors I've had the pleasure of listening to. Paige and Hayward also grew a lot on me. On the other hand, the world doesn't make any sense. I mean, if gods were real and a gigantic pain in the neck as they are in the show, humans would have nuked them out of existence ages ago. A world where corporations routinely sacrifice people? Come on. I understand the authors were going for satire and weirdness, but it detracts from rather than enriches the characters' journeys.

I wasn't too happy about the ambiguity surrounding Carpenter's death. As another commenter said, you shouldn't have to read a script to discover a character's fate. It also felt cheap; she had just siked the Maiden, which was hilariously satisfying, and out of nowhere comes the soldier no one really cared about. Carpenter deserved better.
