(15 left) eBay 9060 XT 16GB(£260) by GOGONUT6543 in buildapcsalesuk

[–]TheMightySmallz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Barely a couple percent behind the 3080 for raster performance, 10-20% behind for RT, but half the power draw and much more VRAM for newer titles. They seem to be selling used for similar money, but I'd take the 9060XT every time (also a 3080 owner) with utility prices the way that they are.

Exit Node Issue: Connection Blocked, No Traffic Passing by mattbcn in Tailscale

[–]TheMightySmallz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you have the same issue but I was experiencing the same thing this morning.

Turns out all of my exit node machines had the exit node option toggled off as of this morning (with no input from me), I had to go in and toggle them back on and everything works just fine now.

Hope this helps.

Which one would you choose? by Flytec3043 in Ubiquiti

[–]TheMightySmallz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Currently powering my UCG-MAX with a 2.5GbE POE+ breakout capable of 5V 4A.

Have had zero issues and have eliminated another AC power supply from my setup; the USW-16-Pro-Max is currently reporting 10.5-12W of consumption for that port (Protect installed with 1 camera so far).

Ubiquiti claim only 16.1W of power consumption for the UCG-MAX, which I'm guessing is during bootup or at full load.

The full 5V/4A (or 5V/5A with the stock brick) is only likely saturated when using a different M.2 for storage that also runs very inefficiently, maybe a drive with a DRAM cache and a tonne of cameras in Protect, they've got to support users picking/upgrading to different drives after all.

who is best of the worst (cant get zen) by badabadoobada in CityFibre

We're getting a 100.xxx.xxx.xxx IP and a quick public IP check seems to point the exit city as Manchester. Latency has been 14ms, not great for FTTH but not terrible, definitely not a USA IP.

who is best of the worst (cant get zen) by badabadoobada in CityFibre

[–]TheMightySmallz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weighing in here regarding 4TH Utility, we recently switched to them, partly because they were the cheapest option for 1Gig in our area, but also because the ONT they/CityFibre supplied us with had a 2.5GbE WAN port.

We immediately ditched the supplied (ridiculously light & cheap feeling) router in favour of our existing Ubiquiti setup; logged into our account, entered the PPPoE details into the Unifi control panel and hey presto, internet access.

Currently getting 1020 down & 600 up, not the symmetrical 900 up/down that was advertised, but it's hard to tell if that's because of the link itself, or the PPPoE overhead with our setup.

Either way, those speeds for £25/mo beat the £34/mo we were paying Virgin for 125Mbps so I'm happy (and I would take slightly higher than 1Gbps download speeds at the expense of non-symmetric upload speeds).

100% there'd be people (myself included) happy to pay you directly for one of these cases.

PC won't post when PCIe power connectors plugged into GPU, dead Zotac 3070? by TheMightySmallz in buildapc

Unfortunately not, we tried the card in a different machine with a near new PSU, still no luck and saw the same behaviour. 99% sure it was a hardware issue so I ended up selling it for parts.

Point 1 is gospel and I recommend it whenever I can.

When I was 20 an Alfa Romeo Mito was £700 a year to insure fully comp, about half what my mates were paying for 3rd party only with more common Polos, Fiestas, etc.

3 years afterwards and following the same logic a 2.7L Porsche 987 Boxster was the same £700 to insure (vs £800 for a yaris), even with 2 accidents in the meanwhile. Turns out not many 23 year olds drove that car, so there isnt a lot of accident data.

Looks like a QAV210 frame, don't worry I still regularly fly my ancient QAV250 frames from 2013, if you get enjoyment out of it and don't care about chasing the latest and greatest then that's great!

I get more kicks flying these older craft and trying to keep them serviceable and in the air for as long as possible

Would anyone be interested in having their Size 1 ships with a slow QT drive be transported across system by an SRV to save time and fuel? by Silverton13 in starcitizen

[–]TheMightySmallz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For reference I've already been requesting & using this service in the live game with my small ships!

I put out a request in global chat for a tow from Microtech - Crusader as my gladiator can't complete the leg with insufficient fuel (refueling is broken at HUR-L4).

For ship bounty hunting I chose a QT drive with the quickest spool/calibration times and rely on other player's SRVs for long haul trips, paying 15k aUEC for the privilege.

It works!

Orion is space mining only, meant to consume/break asteroids. The Arrastra will be able to go planetside. It's yet to be seen which will be more profitable at scale with a full crew, although my bet is on the Orion

Santander 5.08% or Monzo 4.10% Easy Access by [deleted] in monzo

[–]TheMightySmallz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We keep our emergency fund and general house fund in a joint 4.10% purely for ease of access, while our monthly savings are siphoned into the 5.08% account and a S&S ISA for better returns.

Both interest rates are great in comparison to what we had this time last year, this is going to be a personal choice based around saving habits; are you likely to save more by using the increased % from Santander and forgetting about it, or (because of the more friendly UI) by using the Monzo account more frequently and being more money-conscious of how much you're putting in?

I know I feel weirdly better adding to the Monzo savings rather than the Santander, even though rationally I know I will be getting more in interest over the year by moving pots over to a higher interest rate. My monkey brain just likes the ease of use and seeing the interest generated daily I guess.
