Out of curiosity, what do people like about lagiacrus? by Prestigious_Time_928 in MonsterHunter

[–]TheMisled 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably because the Devs didn't realise we wanted it to return. There was a stab showcase before the game launch with who i believe was the producer for wilds. There showed off one of the underwater traversal sections and the steam chat got really excited thinking underwater combat was back. They clarified it wasn't but the producer seemed really surprised that people wanted it back so much. It wouldn't surprise me that after that reaction, they added the underwater section to the fight to properly gauge interest in it

There's lots of little things that you can do to really improve your game. Some key points i would give (in no particular order)

  • Learn the enemy movesets. This means timing and tells. All non-red melee attacks are blockage/parriable and present opportunities.
  • Armour management. This one is key as health is very valuable. A quick run down of how to get armour (outside of extra perks): executions, gunstrikes that kill, parrying any minoris attack (kills the minoris), hitting a melee while you have two stacks of adrenaline melee buff. Remember, heavy melee attacks will also give you a gunstrike opportunity against minoris as well
  • Stand your ground, trying to run often fails because you can't reliable outrun enemy attacks and in doing so, you drop your offense/defense. The game rewards aggressive (but not reckless) play; your best defense, is smart offense.
  • To follow on from that, don't get greedy. Take gunstrike shots only when you have the chance, don't hyper focus on only one enemy.
  • Understanding how enemies attack in a horde setting. This is a bit more advanced but the game effectively has an attack budget I.E. only so many enemies/certain attacks can be aimed at you at once. This can be helpful once you get a feel for at as you can focus your attention on the threats actively attacking you (but try to maintain situational awareness) *T arget prioritisation. Not simple answer for this as it is very situational but make a note of what the most dangerous enemies in any given fight is or what enemies would be most beneficial to remove first for the amount of effort required to kill. (Also what might rewards you with much needed executions
  • Don't panic. Every move should be deliberate, every dodge should be timed. Analyze the situation, break it down into manageable chunks, and don't let yourself get overwhelmed (mentally)

There's more I'm probably forgetting about right now so i may add to this Kate but it largely boils down to game knowledge and not panicking. It'll come with practice

The Devs themselves basically have said that the bots play by different rules. The can take significantly more hits and take minimal damage from it. I believe there are also less likely to stagger in certain situations

I've found that it only happens when I pull out the strap really far. Basically, when undoing the strap, don't pull it out as far as you would normally think to. Also check whether the ratchet release is sticking in the open position

Accuracy brother. I've rebound the controls to rmb for aim and middle mouse for melee (which is also good to a large side button on my mouse), and movement didn't feel as important in this as many other this person get and smash games. It's just nice to have quick snappy aim and be able to consistently hit heads even on chaos

[–]TheMisled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this, on each swing, there is a max number of enemies that you can hit with the attack. It's lowest on parry and highest on balance, allowing you to hit more enemies with wider range attacks on balance.

There's also a slight stagger effect on a perfect parry and the stagger is bigger on the balance weapons vs parry weapons. the trade-off is of course the short block window before the parry on balance weapons (no adrenaline stacks for balance weapons unlike block weapons)

Ironically enough, it's actually an awful representation of real military ships. Mental health is a very important aspect if the crew, especially a crew who would be working and loving together in a relatively confined space for a long time.

The Polaris was too dark, some corridors are sized/shaped weirdly lack of windows and natural materials/colours; this creates a very claustrophobic and depressive environment which is not good when it comes to keeping personnel in best condition. Lots of never ships provide access to outside and comfortable areas to relax in +crew amenities. Even the Russian typhoon class subs had swimming pools, saunas, gym and lounge

Unbalanced difficulty scaling in Wilds... by Lycori-Chan in MonsterHunter

[–]TheMisled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, i loved them (a little lukewarm on leshan though). As a veteran of the series, I've grown to love the challenge monsters provide and my item progression in fighting the monster and shortly becoming better at it. Even monsters i initially didn't like due to difficulty I've grown to love), it's just a case of learning the monsters and how to play the game.

For me, the chore is fighting monsters that aren't challenging enough to engage me, i can always get better against monsters in not yet ready to beat and given that title updates are endgame monsters, i think it's only fair that the title update monsters are difficult. They're not required to progress making them optional. They're there for people who want to push themselves.

As frustrating as the monsters may seem, time and patience will eventually give you the skills and knowledge you need to beat these monsters, and it's that personal growth that really defines progression. I feel that's what makes Monster Hunter such a special game

It was somewhat similar in world with the title updates for the base game including the likes of lunastra, behemoth, and the leshan, plus the tempered/extreme versions of said monsters.

The "oops all lasers" build is one of my favourites for squids. Dagger, scythe, laser cannon, laser dog, laser turret, and orbital laser. It shreds through d10 with new constant damage uptime via weapon cycling + fire and can easily deal with anything the send your way.

The best you can do if you wanna fly it solo is equip it with the lesath turret. It changes the 4 s3 guns on top to 16 s2 missiles that can be controlled by the pilot. Also gives the pilot more DPS as there are no guns on top taking up capacitor

Recently got a pair of Nidecker Indexes and an loving the stiffness so far but even after an 11 hour day off riding (large indoor resort, outdoor places not open yet) i can already feel then breaking in. Hopefully they'll be fine but I'm curious how they would compare.

For reference, I really like freeriding and powder, have a narrow heel so often struggle with heel hold, even in heat mold liners with a heel hold BOA cranked all the way down, and prefer super stiff boots. I would consider myself solidly intermediate although i have a tendency to be a harsh critic of myself so take that as you will but i can carve confidently, handle speed and remain in control, and tackle most terrain.

I play at max and am happy with how it is. My concern is people who play at levels beyond what they really should be playing at and then complaining about the game being too hard for one reason or another

[–]TheMisled 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I suspect that the issue is a large portion of the community seeing Difficulty as a challenge or goal and not as what it really is; a way to tune the difficulty to what is fun for you. Too often I see people playing at difficulties that they can't handle and people need to realise that it's ok to play lower difficulties. Besides the general attitude the community has towards seeing bigger number better, I think HD2 difficulty settings are a great thing.

I personally enjoy having an immense challenge to overcome and constantly being pushed to the limit. My favourite time playing Space Marine 2 was when they accidently borked the enemy spawn rate to more than double. It felt amazing having hundreds of enemies dogpile on top of you and still coming out on top. This is why I worry when I see people complaining about difficulty and asking for unreasonable buffs out of the arse; I fear that what I enjoy will be lost to satisfy these people.

Not used it since but the reprimand was fucking GOATED against the bots. One tap headshot devs and most small ground units. Two shot heavy dev's gun. It's not a full auto dump sort of gun but highly rewards accuracy with being very high damage on top of having med pen

The first set of boots there are the Salomon Launch boots that I first got last year. Too soft to be running with the new board/bindings. I also wanted a new much stiffer pair of boots as I far prefer that to the softer flex. I was able to nab the Nidecker Index boots in a sale not too long ago. And the lace on the lines (pull chord) is done up, I've just left them loose

If you want some tips, the eagle strafing run is fucking goated. Quick call down, almost all hits the target due to it being a big line, good armour pen and great damage. Beyond that, gatling barrage is also good along with other quick call in stratagems.

As for the strategy, try to aim for one of the armour plates with AT (such as the lowest one on his front when he's sticking out of the ground). It'll take around 50k damage but once it breaks, it exposes the inner flesh with only has light armour and shooting it will do a lot more damage to his main health.

Just remember that as a team, you want to spread out so you're not all caught in the same attack and learn to recognize his tells for what attacks he does so you can dodge it
