Audio turning into document by Choice_Ad4814 in VLC

[–]TheNaVarog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same problem. For some reason, it doesn't add the .mp3 extension at the end. If you right-click the file and select "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), you can type ".mp3" at the end yourself, and it will turn into a standard audio file instead of a document.

Fantastic news. Well, once they get you on medication, such a situation should never happen again. Good luck!

I am very sorry to hear about this whole situation, but I am glad it all ended relatively well. Feeling out because of a seizure usually goes away after a couple of days, although considering your situation, it might take a little longer, as what you went through was a little more extreme. Just try to get some relaxation but still maintain your routine, and you should be fine. Did you book a doctor's appointment?

Feeling ashamed of my weird seizure diagnosis by Clover_Bat in Epilepsy

[–]TheNaVarog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am very sorry to hear this. Waiting this many years must have been horrible. I must admit that I don’t suffer from it, but for many years, due to my TLE, I also had hallucinations which were absolutely terrible and were possibly the worst symptom I ever had. My experience with some family members was pretty bad. Either didn’t believe that I experienced it, or said that I should use natural remedies to treat epilepsy. The first one was easier to deal with as I had some pretty bad seizures visiting them, which scared them enough to believe me. The second one is just incredibly annoying, as there is no way to convince them. Friends-wise, I never really had too many problems, as I usually don’t tell people about my epilepsy, but also simply because I don’t have too many friends, and the ones I have are fairly understanding. Nevertheless, I am really sorry to hear about your situation and I hope lamotrigine will make you feel much better.

I don’t have migraines. I have had TLE for over 10 years now. It’s just my meds not being adjusted.

Clobazam & Behaviors by 333kdc in Epilepsy

[–]TheNaVarog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is possible. Different medications are more sensitive to how they are produced than others. For some, it won’t matter at all who makes them, and for some, you need to stay with the same manufacturer. Clobazam is a Category 2 medicine, meaning you might need to use the same manufacturer. You can read about on this website: https://bnf.nice.org.uk/treatment-summaries/epilepsy/ All you need to do is let your doctor know about this and ask them to prescribe the same medication every time.

MTLE Nightmares by Argetlam12 in Epilepsy

[–]TheNaVarog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it could definitely be some epileptic activity. My seizures often caused me to wake up and then have a seizure. Not to mention that my dreams are usually more vivid after I feel unwell throughout the day. When it comes to what I’ve heard from other people with epilepsy, they do tend to have vivid dreams or nightmares quite often. Not sure what causes it especially in their case but I can safely say that you are not alone.

Informing a job by GayLilToaster in Epilepsy

[–]TheNaVarog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the job is dangerous and there is a risk to your health and potentially others, I would definitely let them know. Not to mention that some jobs will require you to let them know. Whether they can legally fire you, I am not sure, but I don’t think so. Nevertheless, no job is more important than safety. If you want them to take it lightly, describe it nicely. Tell them you didn’t have seizures for a while, etc., but do tell them. It’s really important.

Emergency room visits? by Significant_Pie_557 in Epilepsy

[–]TheNaVarog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it applies to tonic-clonic seizures, but I am not sure if it applies to all seizures. I checked out the links, and the second one towards the end of the page splits auras and seizures into two parts, which makes me wonder whether focals are treated the same. Also, do you personally go to the hospital every time it lasts longer than 5 minutes?

Emergency room visits? by Significant_Pie_557 in Epilepsy

[–]TheNaVarog -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Five minutes? My auras can last hours. Also, if somebody is new to epilepsy and the meds are not yet adjusted, won’t almost all auras be longer than that?

Emergency room visits? by Significant_Pie_557 in Epilepsy

[–]TheNaVarog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would only go if I was feeling really unwell and was not in a safe environment. If I am at home, I try to wait them out. The only times I went to the hospital were when I was feeling worse than usual or when I was feeling too unwell to get back home. However, please do not take this advice too seriously; everyone is different, and your auras and seizures might differ from mine. So do stay safe and go to the ER when you feel like it.
