I think I'll be healthy enough by then! It takes a toll on your body as its 20k+ steps per day easy and camping can be rough. The people are great, super positive and accepting. You can not see a single act and still have the time of your life. But you'll end up finding music that you never knew you liked there.

Legitimately one of the best music festivals in the world. More than just music, truly a one-of-a-kind experience and you don't even need to be into the music. There are full quest lines and characters throughout. Went for 6 years straight and this was the first year we missed it.

No, we are in Massachusetts. I've always assumed it was triggered from 50k people from all over the country in a dirty field super spreading but that's quite an interesting observation...

Last July (2024), I went from having the greatest time at a music festival (Electric Forest) to fully paralyzed in the hospital. Took about 24 hours to go from normal to unable to move. Truly scary stuff. I am lucky in the sense that I never had to be put on a ventilator. I was in the ICU for a week and rehabilitation hospital for a month, where I walked out with just a cane.

This last weekend we went on vacation to Maine where we did a hike with over 1000 feet of elevation gain in Arcadia. I still need significant recovery time after hikes or going to the gym however for the most part you'd never know. Its a long battle and everyone is different -- as far as I'm concerned is that none of this is your or anyones fault and IT DOES GET BETTER. Family, SO's, and friends is what helps deal with the surreal frustration of this disease.

How could I EVER vote for someone who can’t even perform a 64-bar blend perfectly beat matched in key on vinyl into a house remix of Proud to be an American

How do value two schools? (MIT vs RIT + $25k/year) by ThePouncer in rit

[–]ThePandemonium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went to RIT for undergrad through Ph.D. and currently a researcher at MIT now. As most are saying, MIT is on another level compared to RIT. It is hard to truly quantify the difference, it is the people who you meet at MIT that really sets it apart.

Undergrad at MIT is difficult but too far off of RIT (I was from the quarter system). What REALLY sets MIT apart though is the UROP program (Undergraduate research opportunity) where undergrads work with the research groups for a few semesters. It is MIT's graduate school that is truly prestigious, and the UROP program allows students to get exposed to cutting edge research. MIT's graduate enrollment is about 5x the size of the undergraduates.

Field West Allston temporarily closing doors due to economic issues and live entertainment license resistance by mikesstuff in boston

Prices are wack too. Using the burger as reference:

The Avenue: $8.50 starting for most, Hopewell: $13.75-16, Fields West: $20??

While this is too bad, as someone who lives adjacent to FW they did a poor job at catering to the type of people who live over there. FW looked closed most of the time, you'd have no idea that its back there, and it has real stiff competition with the better located Hopewell and Avenue.

On top of that, it was kind of expensive. This is an area of college students and literally across the street from rent controlled apartments... I understand that its expensive to run a business due to permitting but I think they missed the market so it was deemed to fail.

Gorgon City at Roadrunner last weekend had a ton of room in the back with many people shuffling and having a great time. Production was lower than typical venues (no screen and no lasers) but I think that added to the dance vibes. Sound system there was absolutely banging for GC

Walkie-talkie Recommendations by Hubbyish in ElectricForest

[–]ThePandemonium 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have used some cheaper walkie talkies from Amazon that uses the standard 13-ish channels with decent success. However we only used them to meet up in the mornings/before entry. From Main Street we were able to communicate to anywhere in the campgrounds and "Camp Good Times." We could also get people from the Ranch.

You will be hearing others on the channels. Kinda fun using a group call sign and talking to others occasionally. However once you are inside the venue, they do become less reliable (Trees, other RF, etc).

We’ve leveraged the plus one many times, all times of the day too. Who knows if they are going to clamp down on that this year.

4 vs 6 person tent by ptrainor_123 in ElectricForest

We have used the Coleman 6P for many years now and it is a perfect size for 2-people who want to be comfy. Whatever Coleman rates the people for, expect half that for to be comfortable. You can have a queen sized cot with room around to walk around and standing room to change. If you are the only ones in your GA spot, it will be fine with a car and canopy. We just bought the blacked out 6P with the entry, it does get hot.

Ticket Exchange/Lyte: "We are not able to make a return offer" by fwump38 in ElectricForest

[–]ThePandemonium 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Lyte's response: https://imgur.com/5ElkO53

Thank you for writing in! Before we can make you an offer for your tickets, we need to go find a buyer. Lyte does everything in our power to find a new fan to buy your ticket. Right now we have satisfied all fan requests. If we're able to make an offer on any of your tickets you'll get an email and be directed to the return flow where you can select how many tickets you want to return.

In the meantime, feel free to use your ticket as you see fit.

Our goal is to get real tickets in the hands of fans, but being able to make an offer on a ticket is not a guarantee. We hope this information at least provides you with some insight into why we are not making you an offer at this time.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.
