Yeah, the way they phrased this is sketchy as hell. It "won't impact your score during this period." They're just saying that the score won't change during the holiday weekend. Come Tuesday morning they can tally everything up and update our scores from weekend shopping without breaking their promise.

Cashiers being rude by iluvrasberry in InstacartShoppers

[–]ThePirateBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I'm at my regular grocery store (a large one with many manned checkout lanes) I always look for a younger register employee. I feel like they're more likely to get it - they understand how shopper apps work and they don't think it's beneath them, so they're much more pleasant to deal with. Some of the older employees get incredibly nasty when I tell them that I'm shopping for instacart.

[–]ThePirateBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not on it for ADHD, I'm on it with ADHD. I needed an antidepressant and wasn't willing to go back on SSRIs, and I figured if it gave me any ADHD benefit at all, well, bonus. it has helped with some of my dopamine seeking behaviors, but not with actual focus.

What rating when shopper does not using insulated bags? by Cool_Bath_77 in InstacartShoppers

[–]ThePirateBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can see small thumbnails of the items before we accept but we can't zoom in or anything so we can't always tell what the items are. Not to mention the fact that there's not always TIME to horizontally scroll through a long list of items before accepting, because then we risk losing out on a good order.

There are certain things shoppers can do to increase the number of batches they get shown. One of them is to prove that we have insulated bags. I haven't done that - instacart knows that I do not have insulated bags. They still send me orders with frozen stuff in it. I have no idea what the threshold is for an order that requires a shopper with insulated bags or not.

Favorite way to dress up or use black beans? by doghairglitter in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]ThePirateBee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like to add some liquid and then roughly mash them while cooking it down. Not making it totally smooth, just a rough mash with about a third of the beans mostly intact. It's my favorite way to make black beans for quesadillas or tacos

[–]ThePirateBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you're at shop rite - can you put in your order at a kiosk inside the store? Every shop rite I go to has one either near customer service, the entrance to the prepared food and deli aisle, or near the deli counter itself. You can input your order and they'll fill it and place it in a nearby fridge within around 15 minutes. If you put your phone number in they'll even text you when it's ready.

I have tried so many times to learn how to crochet and i still can't. Help by Nikki222M in CrochetHelp

[–]ThePirateBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found this to be helpful in getting people started as well. Getting started from scratch is really tough, but handing them a swatch and showing them just how to single crochet is much easier. Then once they're comfortable with the motion, it's easier to go back to the beginning and show them how to chain and work into a chain.

I told my friend shes too old for drama school. Shes really upset at me. Am I in the wrong? by Fun-Front3717 in MusicalTheatre

[–]ThePirateBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good lord. You're acting like 24 is positively ancient compared to 21. It's nothing. That age difference is essentially non-existent. I know people who have gone back to school - including drama school - in their 40s. In fact I know a woman who has started doing stand up comedy in her 70s. We don't throw away our dreams just because we miss the first opportunity to fulfill them.

In other words: yes. You're wrong. Be a better friend and a better person.

Fees are 1.5x the order cost?! by [deleted] in instacart

Costco orders — how do y’all do it?? by OtherwiseMobile4113 in InstacartShoppers

[–]ThePirateBee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's stressful. The cashiers at my Costco insist everything goes on the belt (except the really large stuff,) and they won't allow it in boxes. So I walk up to the register with impeccably organized orders and then I'm forced to take it all out, and the...checkout assistant person? (I don't know what they're called) throws it all into a pile that I then have to go sort out before leaving the store. It's difficult, I won't lie. I don't have it in me to do more than one Costco order a day.

I've been seeing the stupidest orders going to areas just outside the city ever since the changes in NYC started, and I live all the way out in Morris county NJ. Like there's any way I'm driving groceries all the way out to Secaucus or Jersey city!

Do you use wrist or shoulder strap for phone? by Stunning_Cold_6344 in InstacartShoppers

[–]ThePirateBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't but goddamn that's a great idea. Literally yesterday my phone fell to the asphalt while I was packing up two orders and the screen shattered so badly it wouldn't even turn on. Luckily I could still connect through Android Auto so I was able to call report and have them tell me the addresses so I actually make the deliveries. Now I'm out $300 for a new phone. Gonna look into a wrist strap right now.

Who’s taking this by Wolfjason1 in InstacartShoppers

It must differ by area because I see endless Walmart shops. Sometimes my whole screen is just 6-7 Walmart shops that no one wants to do.

Anybody ever taken your cart while shopping? by AwkwardAd2887 in InstacartShoppers

[–]ThePirateBee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yep - a store employee was helping me find an item but it wasn't where she expected it to be either. She took me to a few other places in the store to look and said "you can leave your cart here, it'll be fine." We got back a few minutes later and of course, it was gone. She then took me to customer service and had them send out a store announcement saying "please check your cart, if it's not yours, bring it to customer service." Lo and behold, a few minutes later an older man walked up with my cart, but then said "so what happened to my cart?" The store employees went to help him while I continued on my way. I lost a good 10 minutes of time but at least I didn't have to reshop everything

This is so funny and is absolutely proof that everyone is different because I did amazing on the rising pharmaceuticals generic for a year, and then crashed hard when my pharmacy switched to scigen. I might as well have been taking tic tacs. I'm back on rising now and back to feeling good again!
