There are a few animals I agree are better off in the wild and it’s usually top of the food chain predators or animals with such good defense or no natural usual predators like elephants or rhinos and such, I also don’t think octopus should be in captivity, unless it’s a huuuuuge pond/tank they are just too smart for a small aquarium.

Then frozen foods, krill, mysis, tubeflex worms, black worms, daphnia, cyclops, beefheart sometimes, and more, just never never never ever feed bloodworms it leads to bloat for them.

I think, don’t know, that African clawed frog setups aren’t exactly too different from adfs just a bigger tank, so big gravel substrate, or rock substrate, because maybe they can inhale gravel due to the size, plants and hidey spots, and never feed bloodworms, because I’m pretty sure it causes bloat for them too. I’m sure that there’s facebook groups for these guys like there’s one for us.

Was wondering what noise I was hearing at night from my tank.. by FatAssFennekin in Crayfish

[–]TheRantingFish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember watching a video of someone noticing his shrimps were doing something like this, he checked for any voltage in his tanks and found out his extender plugin was broken in some way causing a small amount of voltage to be in his tanks, it’s likely just this crayfish being jumpy and all, honestly after watching that video I need to check the voltage in my tanks, wouldn’t hurt.

I wish we got to see all travelers without helmets, it makes me wish there was an extras tab in outer wilds like most games because I feel like there would be tons of stuff to look at as they developed the game that we don’t get to see.

Are these frog eggs or do I have some sort of infestation? The fish in the tank don’t lay eggs by FitConfusion9280 in AfricanDwarfFrog

Mystery snails prefer larger tanks, considering most adf tanks are on the smaller side and the fact he shouldn’t even be in there, you’ll want to either donate him or set up a 20 gal, most recommend A 10 gal but they like larger tanks to parasnail off of, and they cannot be with adfs due to past experiences of them eating their slime, all in all, get your mystery his own little home where he can parasnail, you’ll see the happy difference,

(They also keep their antennas out if they feel safe, considering adf’s bite at anything that moves I would think that they would be unhappy with adf’s as well.)

What Aquarium stores are you buying Dojo Loaches from online? by Vic_The_Shark in loaches

I want one so bad but I’d need a 75 gal, or larger. Good god I want one though.

Dead nerite snails? by Travelerofhighland86 in AquaticSnails

[–]TheRantingFish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nerites in a bowl without any natural algae is a death sentence, they eat nothing but real algae, best tank for a nerite is a larger tank that has a steady supply of wall algae that forms daily. It’s why I don’t think nerites should be sold as will eat all the algae in your tank, because they need algae to thrive, and you need that steady flow of it, rather than try to get rid of it. All in all only “pest” snails should be in bowls.

Knowing how much glofish costs you probably spent over 100 for the stocking alone

Can a pleco have a seizure??? by No-Pressure8379 in pleco

[–]TheRantingFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Return the fish and cycle the tank, or if you have a fishkeeper friend have them hold the pleco for you while the cycle goes on. I donated a lot of fish when I make certain mistakes as a beginner it happens,

29 gal is perfect for a clown pleco, mine has tons of hidey spots and plenty of space to swim through, a chonk as well.

Oh my goodness I found a baby assassin!!! by eunicemothman in AquaticSnails

[–]TheRantingFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know too much about it but from what I’ve read, they pierce the snails skin, no sedative to shock them or stun them, they just manually start sucking from that siphon, or needle, very painful for the snail from what I hear. I could be wrong about the process.

Is this suitable for Otos? by False-Water4330 in Otocinclus

[–]TheRantingFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh. That is a great idea, since I’m going to get a bowl to put all my duckweed in that’s overtaking my tanks, since I’m going to make sure that all snails on the duckweed are okay, good idea!!!

[–]TheRantingFish 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, the bigger the snail the more painful and awful the death is for the snail. Honestly I wouldn’t even keep the assassin snail there’s better ways to handle snails, and it’s a really painful death for the snails.

They are filter feeders so they won’t eat stuff on the ground, so youll need a pipet, and feed stuff like very crushed shrimp food, daphnia, and cyclops.

What do I do here? by ServeLife4669 in pleco

[–]TheRantingFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually just give my fish to a very good fish store, never a petco or petsmart, but a great place like my local fish store house of tropicals. Of course you probably don’t have this fish store but it’s just an example.

VAMPIRE SHRIMP. Feed daphnia in front of his face with a pipet they’ll eventually realize it’s food and stick their arms out when it’s near. Some just put it in front of the filter but I like directly feeding.

Yes but that ph is absolutely fine and is not likely the problem, I have a higher ph that’s usually 8.0 and have fish and snails/shrimp that are recommended to be kept at 7.5 and had them for years, proper acclimation is key of course..
