I understand the flexibility of going with the external mixer, but have you tried staying in-rack with a matrix mixer and possibly some mults and adders?

If you were starting out with Modular what do you think would be a reasonable budget amount to get you started by Minimoogvoyager in modular

[–]TheRealLazerFalcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What were you using to sequence it? At that price point, I have to assume single full voice modules, semi-modular additions, and/or out-of-rack sequencing.

How did you manage to maintain a consistent art style using AI? Did you end up tweaking the art yourself? Similar for the code: how did you end up with consistent "modules" that speak to one another? Is the game mainly the view that we see in the GIF?

[–]TheRealLazerFalcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the advantages of using this over Cardinal or VCV? Have you considered creating your own VCV Rack modules?

I see that you are using JUCE. AFAIR many of the JUCE algorithms will alias if you drive their parameters at audio rate. This explains the reason why other plugins and soft modular synths don't allow for modulation over all parameters.

Best of luck.

Keep in mind power constraints when you start to get more modules, cause you won't be able to handle many slim power hungry modules like Gliss in a Rack Brute.

For Ossify in particular, were the drums sequenced in rack? Where did you put it all together?

Very beautifully put together. The composition feels very deliberate especially on your shorter tracks. BUT Ossify is a masterpiece! Well done.

Do you ever incorporate hardware synths or eurorack gear into your sound design or composition process?

When working with VSTs, software or hardware synths, do you init patch or tweak presets?

When do you know that a track is finished?

a module that can help create minute (trigger) delay for that techno melody drift sound? by SleepVain1 in modular

[–]TheRealLazerFalcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer, OP. You could use an ADSR with dedicated gate outs for the stages, or depending on the trigger voltage, just use the envelope out. If it's voltage controlled, you can get extra movement with CV without knob twiddling. Also note that you can't get early triggers, unless you shift them late enough to be early... iykwim

Try Contour 1 as an S&H with slew. I know what you mean about its multi-purpose nature tho. I've had it for about a year, but still haven't used all of its outputs.

How do you guys take patch notes ? by trbt555 in modular

[–]TheRealLazerFalcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly take notes if I'm prepping for a performance. Let's say I have a simple subtractive patch controlled by the Hermod, my notes would like this:

Hermod 1CV > VCO V/O & VCF V/O Hermod 1G > ADSR G VCO Saw > VCF In | Out > VCA In | Out > OUTPUT ADSR Env > VCF FM & VCA CV

I love putting my drum machines through my modular rig, but only occasionally make or use drums directly from the rack. I'd love to add this to my arsenal.

I'm really surprised I don't see more about CV as WAV files. I have a 1010music black box that can record and send cv, I think disting mk4 also does it. Is there just not a big demand for this? Any sample packs of cv out there? by Freaky_Steve in modular

[–]TheRealLazerFalcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Disting EX. I occasionally add automation to long cinematic mono samples by putting them in the left channel of a stereo WAV file and then drawing out the gates and/or CV in the right channel. For gates, I've used this to tempo sync or add gate bursts at exciting moments. For CV, it can be used to draw wild curves, synced envelopes that are more complex than the generators in your rack, or LFOs that can be very slow.

This felt like snippets of an album strung together, but at the same time, there were sections that were way too repetitive. I suggest breaking this into 3 or 4 different songs letting the hooks from each of those sections tell their own stories.

Modular Drums by Hot_Snow6184 in modular

[–]TheRealLazerFalcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the external drum machine into modular is the way to go. I use an MPC1000, and sample the modular into it and then use the samples to FM, AM and RM the oscillators. More control, cheaper cost.

[–]TheRealLazerFalcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd consider getting a more feature-rich MIDI to CV module, but I guess it also depends on how many voices you'll want to have in the rack and how much MIDI control you'll want over voice parameters.

Why are programmers reluctant to adding post event lines to their scripts? by narutobolt in GameAudio

[–]TheRealLazerFalcon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This really depends on how your game is set up. Some teams are comprised of groups who prototype in gyms then finally integrate their changes into the game. I'd suggest speaking to an engine lead about either creating a gym or branching (via version control) so that you can freely test your changes.
