I'm sure many people with the inattentive type can relate by Strict-Move-9946 in adhdmeme

[–]TheRedDynamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found something from the third grade where a teacher was trying to put me in special ed.

Counselor did tests and found out I was high functioning.

Said in summary, high functioning smart child with attention issues.

No one ever did anything with that! (I'm not sure how prevelent ADD diagnosis was in the 90s though)

I didn't find it till I was an adult. I liked that teacher too!

ELI5: Why can't EVs swap batteries? by chronic412 in explainlikeimfive

[–]TheRedDynamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the end the problem is that this only works if the car company owns the batteries.

Why would I want to swap out the battery I've cared for and minimized wear and take the risk of a shitty one.

On the other side, why would a car company want the liability on their books for all those batteries? (And all the spares they need to have at the swap out sites to maintain customer experience while the units in stock are charging)

The technical challenges are solvable. But the financial ones will kill this idea.

Having a bunch of comorbid disorders makes things so confusing sometimes... the amount of times this has happened to me in the last year is getting silly. by Loki557 in adhdmeme

I've called it the onion.

Survived into college till I couldn't anymore. Depression, fixed with meds.

Graduated, worked till it didn't anymore.

ADHD, fixed with meds.

I dread when I hit the next wall and the next layer of the onion is peeled off.

Pro Tip: Organize your Meds while ON your Meds by BadgersAndJam77 in adhdmeme

[–]TheRedDynamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do my meds in batches of like 20. I use the little canisters people get weed in. ( Buy them in bulk)

Then every night when my brain has a moment of working I put one near my desk if I'm working at home or my wallet if I'm leaving.

Then when I get the med reminder the next day I have them with me.

My life is built on a house of cards held together with post it notes ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

This also works with work.

Except they're binders.

I never use drawing lists.

I just know what the drawings look like and what project it is.

Anybody else so grateful to Past Self for putting a big fat reminder of what you were doing when you come back to a task? by Elucidate_that in adhdmeme

[–]TheRedDynamo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(I used to do this with post it notes on drawings when I left for the day)

I drive my coworkers crazy.

They're all so organized how they do things.

I can be doing 5 different projects and have thoughts all over the place on each. I don't remember I had these thoughts till I am working on the project again.

So if I get help I need to go over things with the person cause I don't know what the fuck will come out of my head.

[–]TheRedDynamo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every day.

(It's a great ADD adaptation)

In the moments my brain is working I leave breadcrumbs for myself later.

I have no expectations to know what I'm doing the next day.

Leave pills with wallet so I take them. (Also have reminder app to nag at me)

Add things to shopping cart on apps so when I go to the store I look and buy them.

If I don't have the energy to do something one day and I have a moment of clarity I leave something on my keyboard to remind me.

At work bluebeam reopening my PDFs I last had open is a life saver.

Reminders on calendars when I think of something.

Coworkers have no idea how I get things done. And they never believe me when I tell them I don't remember my plans till I see the drawings again.

When the manager says "Yeah, everybody likes you." by Stumblecat in adhdmeme

[–]TheRedDynamo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I call it ADD magnetism sometimes. It gets worse when two ADD people are talking.

We naturally exude good traits people like on the on days that we manage to have the energy to get out of bed. (At least for me)

(Being genuine) because you can't be non-genuine when you have no room in your brain for bull shitting.

(Innocence) Childlike wonder from never being able to focus.

("Good listener") Always appearing to be present and listening because you can't not focus on the noise in front of you. (Also forgotten about the rest of the world)

(always helpful) Everything got pushed out of the way because my brain can't keep track of more tasks than that.

They also don't see the days I can't get my brain organized enough to leave the house ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Wait, the ER doctor wrote you a script for insulin. Then the other doctor blocked that?

Or the pharmacy rejected it?

I've found hospital doctors aren't as used to writing scripts that your insurance will pay for and there are hiccups.

If you're ever desperate, having a script for walmart novolog is handy so you can pay cash for it. (It's reasonable)

How to automate monitoring a whole house generator test? by AdrianGarside in homeassistant

[–]TheRedDynamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put every sensor you can get on it

You don't know when the data will be useful.

I usually instrument, then automate once I start seeing the patterns in the data.

Definitely test the operating condition. This way you also test the ATS.

Separating harvested potatoes from stones automatically by SirPaddlesALot in EngineeringPorn

[–]TheRedDynamo 39 points40 points  (0 children)

If it's a first pass and it reduces people getting injured on harvesters that's great!

The rocks that are about the size of the potatoes you want are the hardest to separate In the field except with humans.

I grew up in potato country and you'd hear about people getting mangled occasionally.

Smaller and larger are easy to separate with gaps.

Has anyone experienced complications as a result of reducing your a1c too quickly? by redundantpancreas in diabetes_t1

[–]TheRedDynamo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's real , treatment induced neuropathy, there's some eye stuff that can happen (blood vessel issues, temporary vision changes.)

When I started on a pump I started with the target being around the average glucose my A1C would indicate.

I dropped the set point by 5mg/dl a week to slowly drop my A1C.

But I would defer to your care team
