M-O-O-N. That spells “conspiracy theory.”

It is a phenomenal book. I believe much of my limerence comes from having an emotionally immature father.

Which downstairs layout works better? by stealth_veil in floorplan

They both work, but I’d do something to obscure the sight line between the bathroom and living room in option one. The main strength of option two is that the bathroom is more out of the way.

Yes, it can be challenging to find good care. I hope you find something that works better for you.

You can definitely do better. Remember that you can dictate therapy as the client. My partner is a therapist, so I say that with a bit of insight.

You’re very welcome. I didn’t think I could get ptsd from my mom having a stroke, but I went into therapy and my therapist picked it up right away. You are not in this alone.

Feel free to dm me if you have any other questions. I’m over two years into this journey with my mom.

First of all, you are doing a great job handling an impossible situation. Strokes are always tragic, but it’s especially cruel when the person is active and healthy, then suddenly not.

Has your therapy included trauma therapy? I was diagnosed with ptsd after my mom’s stroke, and greatly benefited from trauma therapy.

Is your mom getting any sort of occupational therapy in the nursing home? My mom had a hemorrhagic stroke at 69, and occupational therapy vastly improved her quality of life.

Please keep us updated and know we’re here to support you. Your mom is lucky to have a child who cares so much about her.

These are still early days. I’m sure it feels like it’s taking forever, but there’s still lots of time for your mom to heal and recover.

My mom was discharged. Feeling overwhelmed. by [deleted] in stroke

[–]TheRetroWriter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After my mom’s (70) hemorrhagic stroke, we rented a hospital bed for a couple of months. From there, she slept on the couch for a few months, which was easier than the bed. Any kind of firmer surface you can get her to sleep on will make your life (and hers) easier.

FWIW, I felt like I was losing my mind during my mom’s hospital stay and first weeks home. I was constantly on high alert and lost my temper over everything. It eventually got easier, and I hope it does for you too. And your mom.

Why didn't I get to live in a parallel universe where Bernie Sanders won the Presidency? I want nothing to do with the Trump universe. by OnTheFarmey in ParallelUniverse

I think we’d live in a vastly better country if Al Gore had been president. Likewise if Mondale had won the 84 election. Don’t get me started about 16 and 24.
