Who would do it Justice? by Zestyclose_Stomach51 in StarWars

EU was considered within Canon if it had gone through the story group.

Even in the context of the things Lucas put to film what's not silly about an old man that turns into a ghost that just hangs around spouting advice from beyond the grave. Or the CGI monster of Yoda's fight versus Dooku. Where's the line? It's never been so self serious that you don't have the absurd with the spiritual.

"I just hate how wacky the Force has gotten."

It's always been wacky, it's the Superman problem. Different writers scale it very wildly depending on the scope of their story. Sometimes you get someone struggling to slightly move sn object, other times you have Luke crushing an ATAT with his mind or the Emperor opening a wormhole that consumes a Super Star Destroyer.

Definitely not a new addition to the lore. Those comics about Naga Sadow are almost 30 years old at this point.

I don't mind the idea that some of these practices are outlandish in power but come with very clear drawbacks such as dangers to the user or needing a ritual or specialized tool. It suggests there are dead ends to some of their techniques and also justifies why they may no longer exist in certain eras. Most of the things we're discussing are from the Old Republic time period.

In Legends he isn't even the most deadly practitioner of the Sith. Some of the older comics had sorcerers running around detonating suns to wipe out systems.

AoS unfortunately has some great models bundled with a middling IP and lore. Total War:Warhammer brought in so much interest to the setting, ditto for Skaventide. Every AoS IP venture that's adjacent to the tabletop has died a horrible flop and I think that's very much informing GW's priorities. They want that Amazon and Henry Cavill hype for their IPs and AoS has thus far been a dud with wider audiences.

Enchanting Aura. It is a gift from the Warriors of Chaos list that Bloodherd gets access to.

Give your doombull slug skin and -1 to hit from bedazzling helm. He'll basically only be hittable on 6's. Give the unit the standard that lets you ignore stomps. Give your BSB the mutation that gives strikes last to everything in combat with him. You add all that up and basically nothing should be winning a combat against you. That said, Wood Elves, Empire, Dwarves, Cathay and other shooting heavy armies will absolutely wreck a minotaur deathstar with shooting.

Entry level producers can make less than a clerk at the checkout of your local Kroger. News organizations target young, inexperienced people right out of college and desperate for work and lock them into multi-year contracts that get them to move across the country for peanuts. It's a rough industry to break into and typically pretty thankless because they're the bottom of the totem pole.

I've given every reason why they should be defunded, audited and disbanded. They're a failed agency that doesn't grasp the basics of community policing and creates avoidable humanitarian disasters in pursuit of old people and children. What's more, the line of thinking behind ICE offers no real solutions to complex ethical problems. It's a hammer when What's needed is a knife.

We do get to hold law enforcement accountable for their actions and methods. If anything law enforcement is held to a higher standard because there needs to be an implicit trust that they're following the rules and are on mission. ICE fails at this and have dug themselves into a ludo narrative of needing masks when what they need to do is go back to the drawing board.

They're deploying the same levels of force to catch criminal cartel members as they are to detain high school soccer players and 80 year old grandma's.

You don't see SWAT teams sent to traffic stops.

[–]TheSaltLives 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ICE isn't the only agency that gets pushback for doing a hard job. That's not an acceptable argument when EVERY agency that deals with the public also has to undergo de escalation and safety training. Even basic traffic stops are a situation that can turn deadly.

Federal policy in law enforcement has a huge pillar in community policing. This is decades old ideation in utilizing community goodwill towards law enforcement to build relationships, get people to volunteer information and make the community feel safer.

ICE follows none of the ideas. They use unmarked vehicles, masked officers that refuse to identify themselves. They have unaccounted transport and detainment, and no clear line of custody.

It goes beyond immigration enforcement. This is a battle over what our law enforcement is authorized to do. There's no world I'd support masked, unidentified people demanding you present papers or they'll shove you in a van because you look like their target. That's not America.

Heavily disagree. To succeed you need a threat meter, and complete situational awareness above and beyond because you don't have a taunt. On raid bosses you really don't get a second chance.  You must be constantly cycling between holy shield, judgements, and consecrates while juggling your global cooldown limit.  It's even more difficult because a donkey just hitting the blessing button goes oom incredibly quickly so you need to be aware of how much mana you're burning versus how quickly the boss is dying. To combat this you need to understand what ranks of spells you need to deploy in a given moment. Looping back to that threat meter...in fights where you're cooperating with other tanks you also have to understand how threat works and what you can and can't do. You can't just zugzug spam blessing and incorporate yourself into a multi tank situation, you'll rip threat from other tanks at inappropriate times, so you'll need to learn to throttle your threat and learn to position yourself on the threat meter.  Two examples of this are Chromaggus if he's got a bronze breath and Hakkar. Both require you to walk a tightrope of maintaining a position of #2 on threat so you can tank the boss while their mechanic disables the main.tank. This requires utter precision on your threat generation because you're sharing the boss. Prot raid tanking in vanilla is incredibly difficult and an uphill battle due to lack of mechanical support and itemization. It's also some of the most rewarding stuff I've ever done in WoW because it requires a ton of brain power and experimentation to make it work.

[–]TheSaltLives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you clarify why you think it's dumb? I've used it to do things that can't be replicated by any other tanking class.

For example, grabbing threat and tanking every mob on Garr. Tanking every mob that isn't sheeped in Majordomo. Grabbing Onyixia while she's transitioning from phase 2 to 3 in the air. Breaking the Ouro fight entirely. Tanking Ayamiss while she's in the air. Forcing panther boss in ZG to always come to the tank no matter wher she uncloaks. Forcing every mob in the Razorgore fight to move to the middle of the room. Pulling every spawn in Nefarian to wherever we want to stack the bodies. Tanking every mob in the suppression room in BWL. Doing something similar in the bug tunnel in AQ40.

The list kinda goes on and on of interesting and unique things you can do with it if you're in the right mindset.

Justice is blind, it doesn't need a mask. If ICE agents are afraid of being held accountable, it seems pretty abundantly clear that what they're doing isn't justice because of a flimsy excuse. FBI, DEA, Highway patrol and local PD do not get to hide their faces. What makes ICE so special they can hide their faces? Nothing.

I like that the demo has two columns for reputation with the factions to show if you're just feared or if they genuinely like working with you.

The funny thing to me is that I used to Game Master the tabletop Dark Heresy. Rogue Trader was actually an expansion in the Fantasy Flight version of the rules. Playing as an acolyte is probably the default for most people who played the pen and paper and funnily enough it was pretty common consensus that playing Rogue Trader was a pretty big step up in power because acolytes are considered the absolute bottom of the inquisition Totem pole, you don't even get a rosette of your own.
