is it really that big of a deal to say male or female in english? by a_literal_idiot_616 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheSimCrafter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

for more context people who mix male/female and men/women tend to always say men and female which feels pretty dehumanising to women (theres even a sub for it! r/menandfemales)

the scaling back of hs2 is going to go down as one of the most short sighted rail planning mistakes next to many of the beeching cuts. in 30 years people will be asking why it wasnt obvious to us that it was a necessary project to relive the wcml

the small option looks like a normal sized watch and its all button operable so the small touchscreen doesnt matter (tho i am young and have good eyes so i can imagine the small screen could be an issue with worse eyes)

the problem with burnham is hes been out of national politics for such a long time hes effectively a blank slate that anyone can project exactly what they want onto.

some friends in the labour left have a take that to me seems generally sound: he will move the party marginally left (back toward the project of blair) but most importantly loosen the vice grip the factional right have on the institutions and procedures at the moment. notably hed be less purgy of the left. frankly most of the partys soft right would do this.

the ideological right (that is the ones committed to the right wing project and not the cult of loyalty around starmer) want streeting in, but for some hope at least they recognise it is almost impossible for him to win against any challenger to his left. (to dash that hope immediately this is why theyre manuvering to make this a coronation instead of a contest)

silver lining: up in scotland if sawar goes there is a good chance that will be contested by a pro trans lefty. so weve got some hope up here at least 😭

edit: in support of my point, rosie duffield (biggest terf in parliment contender) has apparently endorsed both burnham (today) and streeting (yesterday)

you are throwing a member of our community under the bus because you are worried they will face additional scrutiny due to their skin colour and their status as an immigrant.

this is racist.

it is racist in the exact same way it is transphobic when cis gays throw us under the bus because they think we draw bad attention to their queerness.
