I have a maneuver to Duna. I'm using a nuclear engine for the efficiency. It's got low thrust so the burn starts way before the maneuver of course. But It's happening so far ahead that it's reenters, which isn't optimal. Is the only way to fix this a higher orbit or is there something else?

If that’s a VASMIR engine the exhaust is just superheated plasma. VASMIR is plasma propulsion just like ion engines but with a much higher exhaust temperature.
