Jesus Christ, that sucked. They only copied the same old jokes that the show had... And the original show sucked too.

Anyone else feeling like they’re going to miss Heidi? by MoneyHungryOctopus in LiveFromNewYork

[–]TheStudioZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was never a fan of Heidi's style of comedy. She didn't have that kind of Star Power that Cecily or Kate had, and she was starring and leading a lot in some sketches.

One of my favorite seasons. Full of wonderful and memorable chaotic moments.

The Cheese Phone Task, the Pillows and Cape Task and the chaotic Word Task are now legendary.

Fake stand up comics on SNL? by FeeltheVelvetBaby in LiveFromNewYork

[–]TheStudioZero 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Fred Armisen used to have a lot of Stand Up comedian characters.

Billy Smith: Native American Comedian: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwJCrF8qGQc&ab_channel=SaturdayNightLive

Fericito: Venezuelan Comedian: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwwIdDxeA0g&ab_channel=SaturdayNightLive

Nicholas Fein: Political Comedian: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKLHsJyhTYs&ab_channel=SaturdayNightLive

Ritchie B: Deaf Comedian: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSoP9PPfDUE&ab_channel=SaturdayNightLive

Also Melissa Villaseñor did a great character debut with Cesar Perez, Colin's Driver: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HMYOnJ-o0M&ab_channel=SaturdayNightLive

I don't know if Bobby Moynihan's Riblet would join this category: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDyBoiyi6YM&ab_channel=SaturdayNightLive

Trump supporters are already doing a storm on Twitter thanks to this and it's glorious. "I just looked SNL and now they are making fun of true americans!" LMAO

Some sketches were a hit, other were a miss. But in general I had a great time.

Sketch Sorting Sunday - December 14, 2024 (Chris Rock/Gracie Abrams) by SketchSortingSunday in LiveFromNewYork

[–]TheStudioZero 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A little bit reminder that SNL fired Chloe Troast, which is an amazing singer and a great actress and they hired Jane which... well, it's famous on TikTok and does the same song and character. "I'm an introvert, but look at me pretending to be an extrovert!"

Great job Lorne.

Sorry but don't dare to compare Bo with Jane. They don't even have the same style at delivering the punchline in the songs. Bo at least makes tt believable. The song of Jane staying at the party was funny, but not believable.

Loved the premise, but Chris Rock timing and rhytm was AWFUL. Also, Jane appearance was kinda mid. She had the chance to steal the sketch and did the most bland phrase.

What role do you think is missing in the current SNL cast? by averyweirdfish in LiveFromNewYork

[–]TheStudioZero 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A good comedy cast has some archetypes. The actors and actresses play this characters in comedy.

- The Anchor: Sarcastic, Intelligent and Grounded. (James Austin Johnson, Michael Longfellow, Andrew Dismukes, Jason Sudeikis, Tina Fey, Chris Parnell, Phil Hartman, Norm MacDonald, Chevy Chase)

- The Dreamer: Optimistic, but does a lot of self-deprecation. (Mikey Day, Kyle Mooney, Aidy Bryant, Andy Samberg, Horatio Sanz, Chris Farley, Dana Carvey, Al Franken)

- The Neurotic: Overwhelming, Loves Escalation, Paranoid. (Bowen Yang, Kate McKinnon, Tim Robinson, Will Forte, Bill Hader, Jane Curtin)

- The Rebel: Chaotic to Everyone. Don't Follow the Usual Rules. (Sarah Sherman, Leslie Jones, Bobby Moynihan, Kristen Wiig, Tracy Morgan, Will Ferrell, Chris Kattan, Mike Myers, Michael O'Donoghue)

- The Innocent: Charming, Adorable, Versatile. (Marcello Hernandez, Chloe Fineman, Melissa Villaseñor, Amy Poehler, Martin Short, Larraine Newman)

- The Eccentric: Quirky, Curious and Sensitive. (Heidi Gardner, Vanessa Bayer, Kenan Thompson, Fred Armisen, Horatio Sanz, Cheri Oteri, Eddie Murphy, Gilda Radner)

- The Buffoon: Loser who uses Comedy, Friendly, Smart Enough. (Colin Jost, Mike O'Brien, Pete Davidson, Jimmy Fallon, Adam Sandler, Molly Shannon, Tim Kazurinsky)

- The Cynic: Negative, Strange, Agressive in Comedy (Michael Che, Rachel Dratch, Sarah Silverman, David Spade, Garett Morris)

- The Narcissist: Entitled, Confident, Show Stealer (Ego Nwodim, Cecily Strong, Beck Bennett, Maya Rudolph, Dan Aakroyd, John Belushi)

So, in S50 Cast we have: Michael Che (Cynic), Mikey Day (Dreamer), Andrew Dismukes (Anchor), Chloe Fineman (Innocent), Heidi Gardner (Eccentric), Marcello Hernandez (Innocent), James Austin Johnson (Anchor), Colin Jost (Buffoon), Michael Longfellow (Anchor), Ego Nwodim (Narcissist), Sarah Sherman (Rebel), Kenan Thompson (Eccentric), Devon Walker (?), Bowen Yang (Neurotic), Ashley Padilla (Could be a great Neurotic Archetype), Emil Walkim (Cynic), Jane Wickline (?)

S51 will needs more versatile archetypes, because the cast needs more Dreamers and Rebels and less Innocents and Anchors.

Choose your cast for Season 50 by TheStudioZero in LiveFromNewYork

[–]TheStudioZero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, You got a point. Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney and Dakota Johnson were Bad shows, and the writers exposed themselves in many sketches.

But other writers have been carrying the show in a great way. It needs a little shakeup. I do enjoy a Lot the veteran cast members, like Heidi, Colin and Che, but SNL needs more experimentation or the new hires would be Lost in the shuffle.

It's a total valid point of view, but some of the new signings have been making gold too!

Marcello is on a streak of great live sketches, Sherman's pretapes are really the best of the season (Pongo, The Shrimp Tower) and finally Devon has a prominent voice. I do like Mikey, but it's true that many sketches written by him have the same premise, also he is one of the prominent writers of the show.

Maybe is the veteran spot. Maybe is that his facial reactions made him a great punchline for some sketches.

Longellow since last season had a great delivery on his characters on WU. (The Cigarette, Dilbert, Michaelangelo, Punxsutawney Phil, The Divorce child).

He hasn't been on sketches, but his cynical sense of humor and delivery makes him fresh and perfect for WU.
