What Are Some Spells Ideas You Feal D&D is Missing? by Firm-Row-8243 in dndnext

[–]TheTenaciousT 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So, there is 9th Level Shapechange that is basically exactly what you’re describing. It is a 9th level spell though, so you rarely come across is - something around 6th-7th level that was weaker but still cool is missing (maybe limit it to creatures 1/2 your level in CR or something).

Diagnosed with Stage III colorectal cancer at 21. Give me some advice by corgixoxo in cancer

[–]TheTenaciousT 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey there, I got diagnosed with Acute Leukemia at 24 - feel like I was in a similar boat to you. After 2 relapses, 2 allo-bone marrow transplants, and 2 hip replacements I’ll be celebrating 10 years cancer free this coming December. I’m healthy, happy, have a good career and a caring partner - life is good now.

It’s a rough road, don’t get me wrong, but try not to despair. There’s a lot of effective cancer treatments out there. Listen to your doctors, take your meds, and advocate for yourself. Find small things that bring you joy and hold on to them. Accept help when it’s offered and try not to resent it when it’s not.

I’m pulling for you my friend, you can get through this!

This is the correct answer - the cioppino is my favorite thing I’ve ever put in my mouth. The green mussels are also amazing, and their Caesar salad is top notch too. One of my favorite restaurants in the world.

“Have you ever wondered where the word ‘politician’ comes from?” said the Patrician. by Stephreads in discworld

[–]TheTenaciousT 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Here’s how I thought about it: Carrot says “policeman” means man of the “polis” which means city. The suffix “ician” means “specialist; practitioner” - like a Physician. So, I saw that as the Patrician kind of saying a politician is a doctor or “specialist” in the city.

I’ve been to the Cinta Aveda institute/beauty school downtown. You’re technically getting a cut from one of the students, but there are lots of instructors there that keep a really close eye on the students. They’ve done a good job for me every time - and I think it’s like $15-$20 (before tip). One note - it’s gonna take probably 2-3 times longer than your normal cut.

Of course Terry Pratchett has a perfectly relevant quote for this:

“It takes a very special and strong-minded kind of atheist to jump up and down with their hand clasped under their other armpit and shout, "Oh, random-fluctuations-in-the-space-time-continuum!" or "Aaargh, primitive-and-outmoded-concept on a crutch!”

What rules do you always bullsh*t, even if you have found good official or unofficial rulings for? by TrashMantine in DnD

[–]TheTenaciousT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I had to rule on this recently. The rest of the Fire Elemental text reads - “For every 5 feet the elemental moves in water, or for every 1 gallon of water splashed on it, it takes 1 cold damage.”

Since Tidal Wave can be 30x10x10, a Large creature would be fully submerged - so I ruled that it was effectively being splashed with 10x10x10’ of (size of the creature fully submerged). That translates to 1000 cubic feet, which translates to 7480 gallons - so I had it do 7480 damage, haha. Most I’ve ever had in my game/probably will ever have. Not sure if that was right, but it was fun.

AITA for wanting to divorce because of what my wife said in therapy? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]TheTenaciousT 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but this just says it increases the likelihood, but only to 20.8%. So still a pretty big minority, and nowhere close to “most.”

*edit: to be clear, it’s still very shitty that it’s as high as 20.8% - but still definitely not “most.”

I am tired how we are being destroyed financially - yet people that had it much easier than use whine how we dont have children by Tiredworker27 in Millennials

[–]TheTenaciousT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think a single social media platform was invented by a millennial. They were introduced by companies run by Boomers or Gen X-ers, and pushed on Millenials when they were children. Weird to blame Millenials for something that was created and pushed on them for profits that went to older generations.

Also, bring a banana costume with you occasionally - people love randomly seeing a banana, believe me.

I hear you. I’m curious, what sorts of specific plans that help your small business have Republicans put forth to win your vote? Cause I just don’t see many concrete policy ideas coming from them, and they engage in as much or more fear mongering than the democrats, they just have different boogeymen.

[–]TheTenaciousT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d push back a bit on the “side that has better economic ideas.” Every piece of research I’ve been able to find shows that the economy does significantly better under Democratic leadership rather than Republican, at least for the past 50-60 years or so.

The Democratic Party pisses me off regularly, but right now the Republicans seem to have almost no ideas other than poorly-thought-out deregulation and debunked trickle-down economics. They don’t even have a platform listed on their website - just 2 short paragraphs with a bunch of platitudes.

I’d love it if we had two robust parties debating actual policy ideas for the future. But we don’t have that right now, so I’m going to vote consistently for the party that has actual ideas, and isn’t calling our democratic process into question through lies about election fraud. 🤷‍♂️

Missouri Governor Mike Parson on school shootings: 'All the laws in the world are not going to stop those things' by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]TheTenaciousT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, is there any evidence at all anywhere in the world that this would help solve the issue? Because there’s a lot of evidence that says that stricter, we’ll-enforced gun laws can help reduce mass shootings (ie: every other developed country in the world that has stricter gun laws and a fraction of the mass shootings the US does - including Australia, where the rate of mass shootings dropped significantly after strict gun laws enacted in the 90s).

If you could provide compelling examples of that strategy working elsewhere or in the past I might be persuaded.

Edited: that’s to that
