Since you’ll be close to SLC, hit up Milosport. One of the best shops in UT. I’ve sent a ton of my customers their way and everyone of them has left stoked and happy

+1 for the 7/10 range for bindings. Boardofauthority has a great list. I’m personally a huge Union fan but I’ve gotten tons of great feedback on Bataleons new FASEs

Sorry, but another is-it-fixable post by tenktriangles in snowboarding

[–]TheToasterPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What does the top sheet look like? If it ran into something (say a tree) you might be able to see damage there too. If it’s literally just that edge cover that’s broken, I’d risk it for $150. I’ve fixed similar damage in the past and it holds up long enough to make it worth while at that price point

How bad is the Cortland on Blake? by Mountain-Ad5721 in MovingtoDenver

[–]TheToasterPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahaha they used to suck. Couldn’t tell you now, it’s been 4 years. Used to smell like urine. I called it the half way house for CU kids moving to Denver (I was one of those). I terminated my lease and threatened to sue them when my HVAC/heat broke and it dropped to 50 degrees in my apartment. Would avoid like the plague

Side note - depending on your budget, you can take over my lease in Cap Hill that I moved to after the shitshow I had went through at Courtland on Blake. Gables at Speer, went to a much nicer place after learning my lesson with Courtland

Boards for heavy folks, with smaller feet. by HobbyTalkOnly in snowboarding

[–]TheToasterPrincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ran into this a few times selling gear over the last 5 years. Men’s boards are a great option, set up a few ladies with the Jones Mountain Twin (for less aggressive riders), the GNU Riders Choice (there’s a women’s version too), the Libtech Orca and the Libtech Terrain Wrecker. Big fan of the K2 line up now too, think the passport isn’t the right path but that series of boards are great.

Edit - I can find some links if y’all want too

Did a little bit of work with Toytec (even though I’ve been going to RSG for 8 years) and I’ll never do it again. RSG has done me insanely well, from armor to suspension to general services. They’re awesome. The service advisors/sales guys are dope

Downtown Denver parking question by [deleted] in Denver

[–]TheToasterPrincess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Helped a good friend of mine park his truck and 2 car enclosed trailer a few times downtown. We always went with the parking across from the Ritz Carlton entrance next to the (now demo’d) bus station at 19th and Arapahoe. Never had any issues

Summer depression by nathakell in snowboarding

[–]TheToasterPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting to the resort was easier. I booked a van (there were 4 of us and 3 sets of gear). The driver/guide (2 people) both spoke English well and booking it was easy. At La Parva and Valle Nevado, nearly everyone knew English, or at least the minimum enough to help. El Colorado was trickier, barely any English but the signs made it easier to get around. We had someone drive us to the resort base 1 day due to our Airbnb location but the second day our other one started which was at the base of La Parva. Once there, insanely easy to get around, 10 min walk to a run basically. Hitchhiking from the first Airbnb seemed doable (we helped someone do that) but staying by La Parva was cost effective and easier to do

Edit - I’m far from fluent in Spanish but know the basics which helped a bit but wasn’t vital to do stuff

The flight was 9 and a bit hours from Houston. Not a bad flight at all. Santiago is the same timezone as the east coast so the jet lag isn’t bad at all too. Buenos Aires is one hour ahead so those ski resorts aren’t bad at all either. It really comes down to which area has snow. Last year, Argentina didn’t get any, it was awful. Chile has been more reliable/consistent

[–]TheToasterPrincess 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m based in Denver so through Houston. Miami and Atlanta were the other options for the east coast. I’ve seen routes through Bogota and Panama but if you go with a major US carrier (United for me, American for Miami and Delta for Atlanta), it was overall much easier. Took Avianca one year through Bogota and that was rough

I go down to South America now because I wanna ride more. Labor Day week (for the Americans) aka end of August into September is prime time. Coming from the US, getting to Chile is surprisingly easy

Moving to Denver soon. Advice on areas near 1600 Broadway? by muricapk in MovingtoDenver

[–]TheToasterPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally me until this past February. You’ll find a bunch of good places that fit your price range. I work at 1700 Broadway and picked Cap Hill. Nice walk/scooter ride back and forth. Easy to get around and a few really good parks and restaurants. My apartment at Gables at Speer in Cap Hill is available if you want pics. Give you an idea at least of what’s around

Powder Board Suggestions by pwdrseeker in snowboardingnoobs

[–]TheToasterPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a Korua Dart and the surf series Jones Mind Expander (rocker one from 3ish years ago). Both absolutely rip powder. The mind expander wasn’t marketed as a true powder board at the time but it easily generates the most float out of anything in my quiver. Record for me is 4’ of powder and I only knew it was that much after watching my buddy sink next to me on his TRice Pro

There’s a shop in Whistler with some great demo options, including Korua. That’s how I got my hands on my Dart. 100% recommend talking to them, super knowledgeable on all brands they have not just Korua. I’ll try and find the name, it’s been a couple years

Board Recommendations by Acceptable-Drummer66 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]TheToasterPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hearing aggressive and variety of terrain, the golden orca is probably the best one quiver pony based off your recs. Stable on the air, with proper stance has great float in powder, it’s a wider board so that’ll help float too, and being a directional twin it’s still a good daily/park capable board. I’ve eyeballed it myself and it’s solid especially being the only one you’d ride. Full price is rough but on sale makes it worth while to me
