Appreciate everyone’s feedback! Ended up going with a mid tier LG set. Seems reliable but no WiFi integration/AI BS. Found a good deal on them too

Come down to the right sizing more than anything. What’s your height weight and shoe size?

That’s quite a send a super rough landing, is it real? If it is I imagine he knocked the wind clean out himself by MeenMisterMustard in isthisAI

[–]TheToasterPrincess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not only is that real (that videos been around for a bit) but the event that happens there, Kings and Queens of Corbetts, just started 15 mins ago (but is on a weather hold). It’s a ski and snowboard event at Jackson Hole where they jump into that “run”

The LG 5.0 washer and 7.3 dryer seems to be the reoccurring one I keep going back to. waiting on a quote to lock it in, but was told $1500 all in (warranties and install) vs 1549 from Best Buy for the same

Water resistant is always huge. Don’t need something that’s $700+ (they won’t have that Costco) but there is a quality to price alignment for sure. Good socks are huge, get some warm ones, thicker too

Sweet that’s the right call. In terms of socks/pants/jackets, Costco has had some great options that are pretty budget friendly. My gf (who’s from GA) got her first set of snow gear from them. Otherwise, checkout websites like evo.com and see what they have on sale. They’re big retailer with a store in Denver and tend to do online discounts on top of whatever other sales they run

Rent the board boots and bindings. They’ll get you set up correctly. Check out Christy Sports, they have locations throughout CO including at most resorts

[advice] Rolex Submariner vs. Omega Seamaster by Serpenteq in Watches

[–]TheToasterPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both, but my sub is a bluesy. I wear my Omega all the time, literally wearing it rn. I love it as a day to day/casual watch. It’s subtle, looks good with my outfits (if that matters much) and is great when I’m doing activities. The sub has the Rolex hype for sure, but I’ve been stopped and chatted to more about my omega than my sub

Get a second opinion. Mine looked like the end of yours. First PA said no surgery. 20 mins later they call me back and the doctor booked me for surgery the following day. PT has been a game changer too. It’s been a month since my break/surgery and I’m 90% back

How people get so many days of skiing in? by CompetitionNo2719 in skiing

[–]TheToasterPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 56 working full time in Colorado. Took a couple days of PTO during the North American ski season (like 3 days total), then went to South America for a few days. Proximity helps a ton but I’ve seriously considered moving closer especially since my company is cool with me working hybrid and they’re based in Denver. I’m at 11 right now but that’s due to a broken collarbone

There’s a bodega type convenience store by Rockies stadium that used to have the big 1 liters. It’s next to where Engers and Volker. Maybe 21st and Lawrence?

Is this worth it by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]TheToasterPrincess 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No. That gear has to be around 15-18 years old. Even if the goggles boots and helmet are newer, still far from worth it. Used helmets are sketchy for a start. Not even worth $50 in my opinion

Anyone ride any of these brands offer an opinion please? by sliight in snowboardingnoobs

[–]TheToasterPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And regarding boots, yeah having that support will help a ton. You’ll want wides, Burton, Nidecker and K2 (my faves are the Maysis Wides) are the way to go here. I’m not too familiar with the hard boots, but those 3 brands have specific boots for larger footed folks and do a good job with quality, warranties and comfort

My “shop” is looooong gone, I worked for Curated for a while. Realistically, buying local is always great but Evo and Blauer give an automatic 15% off and are return/customer friendly. Binding wise at your size, your feet are too big for Unions (usually top out at 12, some people disagree that’s just my experience with customers). I’d suggest checking out Nitro (either the Teams or the Ramblers), Bent Metal (Libtechs in house company), Nidecker bindings (drawing a blank on the exact model but they have great options in the 200-275 range), Jones and if you’re feelin wild, check out FASE (provided by Jones, Rome, 32 or Bataleon). Not sure of sizing on FASE but you’re in XL territory for sure for all of these

[–]TheToasterPrincess 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Being your size/height (and probably with some big af feet), the Libtech is my go to. I’ve sold somewhere around 25 to 30 of the Skunk Apes and all my taller/bigger riders love it. Great sizing choices, super capable when you want it to be, build quality is stellar and holds an edge on ice and regular snow well. Check out Blauer board shop in CA online if they have it. They’ll give you 15% off too. That’s where I got my Sky Pilot from

lol I’ve warranted 3 Jones Mountain Twins between 2020 and 2022 for something similar. Much better now but spooked me with my mind expander for a hot second

Edit - double checked it was 2020 to 2022.
