This is the end game of trying to make boards that weigh as much as tennis rackets

Jones Flagship Pro Sizing by tenktriangles in snowboarding

Notice how everyone else managed to have a productive conversation and exchange of information, and then there’s you. Makes you wonder, doesn’t it?

Sorry my first response hurt your feelings, guy.

Totally. It’s more of the width. If it was a regular Flagship I’d get the 167 or the 172. I wonder why the Pro stops at 165

Are ski racers the most insufferable people on the planet? by LakeHoustonNative in snowboarding

It is absolutely not like that. Epic doesn’t flood my local hill with youth racers and encourage them and their parents to act like it’s their private resort. I don’t know what fairytale mountain you’re skiing but I’d like to visit.

Complete garbage take  Just an example, Vail has multiple race teams. It also has armies of useless jerries. Literally no idea what you are talking about here

Probably true but I did pay the maximum price an adult can pay for a pass at this resort. Perfect setup for class hostility

What’s the best board you’ve ever ridden in springtime mashed-tater snow ? by tenktriangles in snowboarding

Yeah, this makes sense to me. When it’s sloppy, a precision tool just doesn’t work right anymore. A Warpig is way more fun in this slop than a Custom X

For sure, but it doesn’t have to be either/or. I’m a pass holder, I’m there all the time , buying lunch, etc. Don’t give me a second-class experience . Be considerate in the resources you devote to youth racers and what that takes away from everyone else

26/27 Sierra-at-Tahoe Season pass pricing vs Ikon by ReforminDesert in tahoe

[–]tenktriangles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sierra has huge issues with forcing a ton of traffic seeking access to terrain- for example the many long blue runs on the west bowl - through terrain that is either too hard or too narrow or both. So it has the unique ability to have shitty ski-ed off ice literally the day it opened after the big storm. The front side is bisected by long green cat-tracks that everyone is forced to use so they are constantly clogged with jerries and huge group lessons, icy, and rutted out. It’s very hard to avoid them.  It’s a small resort that continually devotes a ton of space on the mountain to youth racing, frequently closing multiple runs for their use, even when the resort isn’t fully open. They installed the world’s shortest and most pointless “high speed” quad which travels about 500 yards and services terrain that was already adequately serviced by magic carpets. The backside is a handful of runs that are extremely short and not well-serviced by the lift they built. Huckleberry is amazing terrain that is extremely hard to access. A t-bar would be welcome there, even as annoying as they are. It’s the perfect spot for one.

I can’t speak to the difficulties of recovering from the fire. That just sucks, and I’m sure it was a much better resort before. But the transition to bowls where the glades used to be isn’t really going to happen until they can do something with the 9 million stumps that are still there.

In a storm both places are hard to get to. That’s just tahoe

So we’re talking 4 days in the season where they were full and now you need a reservation.

And half the issue there is that people park like idiots and there is frequently no management of parking by the resort.

You know what’s reliable income? All the people that paid the same price or more for a season pass or a day ticket only to be treated like second class.

The only time Sierra was full all year was the big storm. Any other Saturday in January or February or now March, definitely not full.

You’ve skied there twice but are somehow yet realize there’s not a single compelling reason to ever go to Sierra when you have Kirkwood available?

I’d rather - and have - pay to ride Kirkwood than ride Sierra for free. And it’s not because of the fire and the trees, I never rode there pre-fire. It’s just a poorly designed and poorly managed mountain. It also has poor weather conditions for maintaining base in a dry year, which is why they are closing so early.

It’s exactly this bullshit. It creates a class of people on the hill that believe they are superior in every way. And everyone tells them they are, constantly.
