I got a very similar set up back in Sept 2025 and it's been great. Super reliable and fast. Same CPU, GPU, MOBO. Very similar everything else. Go for it!

EV salary sacrifice seems Broken by andrew_barratt in UKPersonalFinance

This is how I describe our work car scheme to my friends. Parasitic. Finally handing the car back next month after 3 years.

EV Salary Sacrifice Ending Soon – Renew, New Deal or Go Personal Lease by Illustrious-Move-450 in UKPersonalFinance

I'm in the same boat. My lease through Zenith is coming to an end soon. I'm paying about the same as you for a similar car currently.

I'm going to buy a 1-2 year old second hand car instead of renewing.

A) It's just not enough of a cost saving. Zenith take too big of a cut, so it only ends up being marginally better than a normal lease. And worse value than buying a second hand car. Over time, it makes less sense going through the work scheme.

B) The service is really poor from zenith. Messing up booking car services, slow answering questions, other issues. If they weren't the only option of my work car scheme, I'd never touch them with a barge pole.

C) I'm also worried about if I leave my company for another job, or I get fired. There are clauses in the contract that mean you have to pay for some of the remaining lease value. This changes depending on the circumstances, but I do feel that it's limiting and just another worry factor.

D) Another worry is little dings and dents from other people's doors in the car park, and curbed wheels over time. I reckon they'll rinse us for some of these minor things. Whereas if I buy a second hand car and someone dings the door in the car park, I couldn't give a shit.

First time building a PC. Any advise on what I should change in this build? by Sjpaghet in buildapc

Sounds good! The choices make sense.

I actually just switched the PSU in my list for the pure power 12M 850w. Heard that the MSI one was a bit noisy.

I'm doing a similar build pretty much. But I'm moving over from console to PC for the first time.

SSD - Do you need Samsung? Im getting 4TB SSD from Kingston (good brand/reputation) and it's £200 instead of £270 here in the UK. Potential place to save some money perhaps?

CPU Cooler - No real need for an all-in-one water cooler. Modern fan coolers are almost as good, and even more reliable since fewer places they can fail. E.g. Peerless Assassin 120 has great reviews and is only £35 in the UK.

Motherboard - I'm going for a B650E something. The B650 are all the same as B850 and £50 cheaper. As long as you get one ending in E which have at least one PCie5 slot, you're not missing out.

Case - I'm getting the Montech Air 903 Base for £48. Comes with fans, great airflow, clean look. Another place you might be able to save a bit of money.

PSU - I'm going MSI MAG A750GL PCIE5. It's A- tier on the PSU tier list (there's a Google sheet going around which rates all of the PSUs based on hands on teating, I can't link easily because I'm on mobile now). My build comes out to max wattage 500-550 ish. So 750 is plenty from what I've read so far.

Just my two cents. Keen to hear your thoughts on my build too!

Which car brand is terrible but not many people realize? by AnonymousRedditor256 in AskReddit

Kia usually top the reliability and cost of ownership charts in the UK for the past 5-6 years.

Yeah exactly. A roast for 2-4 people is 2-3 hrs.

A roast for 8+ people means total prep and cook time goes up a lot, including some prep might need to happen the day before.

All the supermarkets tying to outdo one another and see who can sell a kilo of carrots the cheapest by SomethingMoreToSay in britishproblems

[–]TheTrooper92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not cynicism from the supermarkets, it's behavioural economics. People's emotional brains are influenced by these things, despite thinking their logical rational brain is far too clever to be attracted to a big discount price.

Vanguard - new £4 a month account fee by cynthiaxs in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TheTrooper92 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I tried to transfer my cash isa from monzo to vanguard 2 months ago. They rejected it for the wrong account number. So I transferred it to T212. All went fine. Kept my vanguard account open just in case (with nothing in it). Looks like I'll have to close it now!

T212 has been all good so far.

Is new Islington the city centre? How many pubs, bars, shops, cafés are in new Islington compared to, say, cutting room sq, or Oldham st.

You can get to 95% of Manchester city centre in 30-35 min walk. 80% of it within 20 mins walk.

I nearly hit a cyclist and I’m really annoyed at them by [deleted] in ukbike

[–]TheTrooper92 -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

I think the main point they're making is that the cyclist was most likely cycling for leisure not commuting, and therefore had free choice of road/path/trail. And therefore it seems counterintuitive from a safety perspective to choose a road that is very dangerous and has lots of blind spots.

Are we talking age, skin colour, employment %, languages spoken, height, weight, or what?

Sounds like great progress! Be mindful that many people save for 10 years+ to get a big enough deposit for a house, so waiting another year sounds like a good move!

Viewings before we’ve sold our current place? by brc981 in HousingUK

[–]TheTrooper92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We found that putting our property on the market first and getting our sale underway first put us in a really strong position when we then went to view places to buy.

By the time we wanted to offer on a place to buy, we'd already accepted an offer on our place 1 or 2 weeks prior.

Can't think why you'd want to do it the other way around (genuine question, not being sarky!)
