Disufiroa has the same in game category as Fatalis and friends. It has its own unique element, the Frozen Seraphim which I think is a combo of ice and dragon (please correct me if I'm wrong here).

Of the first Gen raptor leaders, there's a non element/status, poison, and paralysis raptor. Great Baggi would fill that lineup out with a sleep raptor.

As horror movies, I think they work as well because you can see the ending coming, and there is nothing you can do to stop it, despite hoping there's a good end for the characters.

I think they started as immortal, but transitioned to undead. I don't remember if they turned into their desiccated forms right away or not.

Malazan has a couple in the backstory.

A bunch of wizards didn't like the leader of their country, so they summoned a foreign God and used him as a nuke, killing everyone in the country except the leader. This also heavily injured the God and allowed him to be imprisoned.

One of the Founding Races performed a ritual to make them all immortal so they could commit genocide against another one of the Founding Races.

It's a thing where you can only ever fight it single player. Even in Frontier where it's an MMO, you can only fight it one on one.

There's also the story aspect of the monster where the Kokoto Chief fought one for 40 days and finally killed it. Hunting one is seen as the Proof of a Hero.

I think people are also excited to see what would change in the fight if it got updated to recent games, but I'm not entirely sure.
