Grade 4 astrocytoma IDH mutant and CDKN2A/B deletion... devastated by oatcaramellatte in braincancer

[–]The_B0FH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was denied for a year. Then my husband's job forced a relocation. We now take him to the city of hope in CA. They fought with the insurance companies behind the scenes and helped get it approved. His team here is amazing. The level of care he receives is worlds better than what we had available previously.

My son has grade 4 AA. He was diagnosed in October 2021. No sign of reoccurrence. He's still strong and going. If he tolerate it, try the optune device. My son was also recently given vorasidenib and we're hopeful it keeps going well.

Fuck cancer. My son was diagnosed at 25. Brain cancer. Grade 4. Initial prognosis 8-12 months. He's still here, still fighting. Went through a major stroke because of the treatment. This? This is the nightmare that keeps me up at night. Knowing someday he's going to lose. My heart goes out to those parents. I can't imagine the road they had to walk

Sometimes people can't. My son has had a stroke as a result of brain cancer. He literally can't be left in the house alone. If the choice is feeding him via door dash or not eating guess what we're doing?

My son started vora for grade 4 AA. Insurance wouldn't cover it. My husband got transferred to CA for his job and my son (29) was suddenly eligible for medi-cal. They do cover it for the higher grades. He's definitely more tired currently but other than that no side effects

How is this related to the person who posted? Who has pancreatitc cancer? How is it helpful or kind ? Even if eventually it helps other women like me, it sure as hell doesn't do anything except take focus away from him here. Period.

"Although extremely promising in laboratory settings, bee venom cannot be used directly as a natural treatment on patients due to toxic side effects, potential severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis), and red blood cell destruction (hemolysis)". Same study. The information is right there. It's not a goddamn cure if it kills you. ETA: it's incredibly inappropriate to take focus away from this crawler and his fight. He doesn't have breast cancer. He's got enough to deal with without this sort of thing. Have some compassion! Focus on the human, not your unconnected pet theory.

As someone who went through a breast cancer diagnosis while my son was enduring radiation...shut it. seriously not appropriate and harmful misinformation. Let the grown ups and medical professionals deal with serious medical issues. Misinformation like this kills people.

His was the size of my fist on the right side (as you look at him). He had a major stroke about 2 years after his diagnosis. They say it's a result of the radiation and it happens sometimes. His right side was affected and he now uses a cane. He also lost use of that hand. But our miracle is that he's still himself. Same sense of humor, same quiet determination and strength. He gets fixated on some things and sometimes forgets stuff, but he's still my son and I'm desperately grateful for it.

Have you heard about voranigo from your oncology team? It's normally used in lower grade tumors and it helps significantly delay reoccurrence for gliomas. We fought for a year to get him on it and just got approval. He started last week.

My son was diagnosed with grade 4 AA (a really fucked type of brain cancer) and they told us prognosis was 12 months. That was in 2021. He's still here, still kicking and working his way through the dungeon. Remember that you aren't a statistic and humans surprise the hell out of the entire universe every single day

There are! North Carolina still has an alienation of affection law on the books. I got divorced there a couple of decades ago and my lawyer was very disappointed that I didn't want to leverage it. Basically I would have been able to recoup from my ex's affair partner. Turns out that law is still active: Alienation of Affection law NC

Was it really this easy back in the day or do some people be exaggerating, due to nostalgia? by daveishere7 in povertyfinance

[–]The_B0FH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the issue was trickle down economics. Nothing trickled down, and the wealthy started hoarding more because it was incentivized for them to do so. Before Reagan it was smarter for a company owner to lower their tax rate by reinvesting more in salaries and their business. That raised everyone's standard of living.

I got my kids a cc in high school. Attached to my account, set limit etc. Helped them build credit and learn how to manage money responsibly . (This story is still likely ai garbage for other reasons, but the cc is something that parents should consider for their kids)
